This is a beautiful, well maintained trail. It's not particularly hard. But, there are lots of steps. I brought walking sticks on the trip and a friend and I each had one. It had been raining and the sticks kept us upright. They are always...More

Well maintained plank trail up the mountain to a small observation platform. The view is just okay since trees obscure most of the town and harbor but still a wonderful nature trail worth the walk if you have time.

If you have knees that don’t bend and find stairs a problem, try this hike anyway. You can always turn around. At age 75, having hiked many Colorado 14 ers in my younger days, I had trouble, but made it to top. Left foot up,...More

We spent a couple hours on the Mt. Dewey trial and it was worth every minute of our time. We had a spectacular view of the inlet and Wrangell. The trail was maintained well, too.

This was a nice hike, but it was on wooden steps and boards from bottom to top. Very unusual, but you are so focused on not making a misstep that you miss out on viewing the scenery. I think I would have preferred following a...More

Mt Dewey is an easy hike and if the weather is good, there are nice views from the top. But the better hike is Rainbow Falls Trail 5 miles from town. Our Alaska Vistas Tour guide had her employee drive us to the trail head...More

The Mt. Dewey trail is a pretty fast hike that takes you through temperate rain forest to an overlook platform view of Wrangell and the straights. The trail can be accessed from the public library via a set of stairs at the end of McKinnon...More

Nice quick hike up the hill above Wrangell with a good view of the bay. Very nice to have the boardwalk and stairs to keep it from being muddy and eroded.
