The Valdez Museum is a don't miss. They have wonderful displays of native people's clothing and implements along with vignettes of early settlers housing and interiors. The most eye catching item is the prism light from a lighthouse (sorry, I can't remember the specifics).

One could spend days watching all the videos and studying all the exhibits. The exhibits include the early years, the Good Friday Earthquake, and the Exon Valdez disaster among numerous other subjects. All are expertly presented and will educate the young and the old.

Although it's not a huge museum, I would definitely recommend visiting the Valdez Museum if in the area. It goes over the history of Valdez thru the 1964 earthquake and up thru the Exxon Valdez.

Some of the historical items there are fantastic. They also have a good selection of local native items. We did not have much time, but it was worth the admission!
