We went over the Top of the World Highway between Dawson City and Fairbanks. Unfortunately at the very top it was cloudy and the view was spoiled but when we dropped down a bit in elevation had great views. Definitely the road to take if...More

Great road with varied scenery, can be a little rough in places but it's a great way to get from Tok to Dawson City. The tiny town of Chicken is worth stopping at to get refreshments. The ferry ride across the Yukon was an added...More

We loved this road and would recommend it to anyone! We pulled a 20-foot camper and found the road to be very comparable to other Alaskan gravel and dirt roads. Just be careful and don’t travel too fast- our motto for the entire trip! The...More

We really did enjoy this drive. It provided some incredibly beautiful sights and many wonderful vacation photos. Our Alaskan vacation will be on I will cherish for years to come. Now...how do I chose which photos to have framed???

We passed through on this highway from Dawson to Tok - it was lightly raining and windy but then started snowing just at the USA border. Most of the road at the top was cloud covered early in the morning but the changing scenery made...More

The road to Chicken was paved and generally in good condition considering the severe climate it endures. From Chicken to the Eagle turn off is a little more challenging. It's gravel with pot holes, dust, lack of shoulders. I was in a pickup truck with...More

We took this highway after we dropped off our trailers so we just had a truck. This highway was rough and narrow. The saving grace is there is not too much traffic. There are few guardrails and many sheer dropoffs. This highway is not for...More

Pay attention to the weather before driving on the road. If it recently rained heavily, the highway will be in rougher shape and you should adjust your speed accordingly. The road is rougher on the US side of the border than the Canadian side. The...More

We had heard and read plenty about how horrible this road is and how you shouldn't take your RV on this road. I'm glad that we didn't listen to the naysayers!! It is a dirt road and bumpy at places but nothing that you can't...More

We came across the Top of the World highway the first of July. Other than rain and lightning the road was good. By Sept. I would be aware that it could be snow. There are many places to pull off and stay if you have an RV... More

No the road closes in mid September and ferry service at Dawson ends as well. I wouldn't drive in a normal car either, parts of the road are almost impassable.
