This was not planned in our itinerary. We just happened to walk past, and visited. Nice and peaceful, beautiful scenery, not too cold even in winter.

All that remains of this castle are the ishigaki (stone walls) and moat. The castle grounds are now a park which feature a shrine and a sculpture garden.

Takaoka castle remains is a good place for sight seeings. You can roam around coz of wide space provided for the people. You can have family of friends picnic. It is also very relaxing coz you are closer to nature.
