What a hidden gem. The day we were there, there was a small family with kids canoeing. The weather was crystal clear and the lake was in perfect mirror form. The fall colors were beginning to peak. Absolutely beautiful.

Great flat hike around the lake. Disappointing that the bridge was closed or we would have made it to the summit of the Cascade trail. Adds an extra 2 or so miles to the hike

This was the only disappointing hike of those we took in Alaska due to extremely muddle trial conditions. Slogging just wasn't fun. However, the lake is beautiful if you are able to hike during drier weather.

I would like to hike around Byers Lake in July. When is the suspension bridge expected to be replaced? Thanks.

Unsure. As of June still not completed. Knowing how slowly things get replaced with state/federal parks, possible government shut down here and Alaska money woes...I would not hold my breath for completion this year....I... More
