They have an interesting exhibit about the first climbers of Denali (or Mount McKinley, as it was likely called at that time).

In between eating, people watching, cafeing, shopping, etc. fit some time to visit this -museum and other historical buildings scattered throughout the town. The available maps clearly point out these gems. The town is small and walkable. You can do it all in day, but...More

Besides enjoying the history we learned through the museum exhibits, the volunteer at the entrance encouraged us to return in the afternoon for a talk by a woman who had attempted to climb Denali. One of the buildings included a 12'x12' scale model of Denali,...More

It's well done, has a lot of artifacts and the volunteer when we were there was very helpful to share her knowledege of the area's history. It was a fun visit that you should not miss.

Museum admission was $5 for those over 62 and worth the time especially the Denali building. Nice display of the mountain and what you would see on full length photos from different vantage points. Interesting info on early climbers.

A local climber explained historical routes & attempts in Denali. The 3D map and his laser pointer made it very informative.

Basic Museum in three buildings (town history, railroad, mountaineering) loaded with Talkeetna memorabilia. Somewhat haphazardly organized but still interesting. The mountaineering exhibit was the best part with a great model of Denali and posters about many of the expeditions. Admission is a bit steep but...More
