We visited the Matanuska twice. Once we hiked or long walk to the ice caves and valleys and that was fun. The second time we went with my older folks (75) and we got a snow sled ride to the caves. All ages truly enjoyed the experience. Guides were always fun and very informative.

We've had perfect weather near Anchorage for almost a month. I saw some of friends photos from a tour and decided that we would try it out. We booked a tour, for $100 a person. It seemed a little pricey, but the photos and reviews made this place look amazing. When we got there, we asked if there was a... More

I have hiked this Glacier several times as I live in Anchorage. First time was with Nova and they were okay. But this was by far a better tour. The chain crampons for our boys were comfortable and we were taken into breathtaking ice caverns. Nova could not match this experience.

It's about two hours drive from Anchorage. Winter tour costs $100/person but totally worth it. I made the reservation two weeks ahead of time but I did see people just walk in and get on a tour. We got to hike on the glacier for about two hours. Our guide Amy was great and very knowledgeable about glaciers.

Matanuska Glacier was amazing. We hiked by ourself. We were lucky to get a clear, sunny day. We were two families with kids ranging from 8-15. Everyone loved it. It was hard to find the path to go deeper in the glacier. We had good hiking shoes, but would recommend renting ice trekking shoes. We didn't know they could be... More

I would highly recommend the guided glacier hike. It was the highlight of our trip to Alaska. To actually walk on the glaciers and step over crevasses and see the beauty of the glacier was a once in a lifetime experience. We went with our kids (11 & 14). I only wish the tour was longer than the 2 hours.... More

We had looked at different glacier hike tours, and we are so glad we selected Matanuska Glacier Adventures. We had a party of 7 and had as our guides Aidan and Chris. The experience we had is one of our top vacation adventures ever. They were both great guides and our tour could not have been better. The ages ranged... More

Once you finally get here, it's worth the trip! We took the guided tour & glad we did! We had two guides who were fantastic! Very knowledgeable & accommodating! We had my 75 year old mom & dad with us & they taylored it to their ability but still got to see a lot because of the guides helping them... More

We walked for 2 hours on and around the glacier, and while we didn't have time to do the guided tour, it was still well worth it. If you have time (and a few extra bucks), go all the way up with the guide.

My husband and I have lived in Alaska 35 years and we took our niece on this tour who is visiting us from Oregon. We loved it. Such a great tour. Our guides Garth and Katelyn were super nice and were very knowledgable about the glacier and the mountains around it. They are super nice too. I would definitely recommend... More
