A delightful safe beach where many folk of all ages walk, run, swim, surf, kite surf, walk the dog, etc. so close to the shops of Orewa.
A well known surf club and holiday Park are icons of the area.
Erosion of the foreshore is a matter that is being reduced by the ongoing action of the local Council.

Beautiful beach - we didn’t want to leave but had to as we are travelling around the North Island by camper and wanted to see the North of the island. The beach is safe and clean, and very easy to walk along the whole length of it. Just across the road are multiple eateries and plenty of parking availability! Perfect ..

Great safe 2km beach for walking and swimming. The Surf Club at the southern.end of the beach is open to the public for meals, Shops across the main road from the beach. Best view is from halfway up the northern end of the Hibiscus Highway, a few hundred feet up the highway on the right travelling north at the northern end of orewa.
Great for taking photos paticularly on a fine day. Parking adjacent to the viewing platform

I'm a little confused, perhaps I visited the bad side of the beach? It's not a beautiful beach. It is however a long stretch of beach so it didn't feel busy (tick!). Weather was perfect (tick!) People talk about all the shells, yes, there are plenty, but I didn't see any special ones- mainly mussels/ scallops etc. When it comes to swimming, you need to go pretty far out to get to deep water but the water was warm (tick!). Unfortunately I won't return and won't recommend, I'm sure there are many better beaches around Auckland (I hope). Maybe it was just a bad time of year? December 2015?

Orewa Beach was as great as ever last summer. The sand and water were perfect and it created a charming harmony of form and function that made this couple's swimming excursion a pleasure last summer. It was an idyll before Life irrevocably changed due to the Pandemic.

Don't travel through the tunnel when heading north from Auckland - take the coastal route and stop in Orewa ! Such a great wee town about 25 minutes north of Auckland city. A great place to stop for lunch / shopping / ice cream if you are travelling between Auckland and Northland or vice versa. Lots of wide open space - lots of places to grab some food and sit by the beach or eat outside at one of the many cafes. A hidden gem that has had a face-lift and lots of modernisation over the last couple of years. Familys - couples - solo - teens - there's definitely something here for everyone.

I regularly walk Orewa beach. It is a nice long beach to walk and is very close to Orewa shops, cafes and restaurants. Anytime is a good time to visit, morning tea, brunch, lunch. Afternoon tea or dinner there is something for everyone as well as shopping. It is a small place but sometimes it is good to get away from the hubbub of the city.

Thus is a beautiful beach with a lovely grassy foreshore. Lovely for walks with your dog, or just taking in the spectacular scenery. I enjoy a bit of amateur photography and the sunrise here is fantastic. Great picnic spits all along the foreshore with gas bbq'd and picnic tables. Fish and chip shop across the road if you want to enjoy takeaways on the beach. Don't forget to take your rubbish with you please.
