Iznik Lake is a substantial, large mass of water, not quite fresh, but close to it. There's a nice path on its shore ; if you walk it East, it will bring you past the site of a recently (2014) discovered Byzantine Basilica, probably dating back to the 4th century.
There's a few restaurants with outside terraces that offer good views ; have a drink there to watch the sunset.

Iznik Golu, also known as Lake Iznik, is a captivating natural wonder in Turkey that deserves every traveler's attention. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, the lake's pristine waters shimmer in shades of blue, creating a picturesque setting for relaxation and exploration. The tranquility of Iznik Golu provides a soothing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. The historical significance of the region, once home to the ancient city of Nicaea, adds depth to the experience. Whether you're boating on its waters or strolling along its shores, Iznik Golu offers a serene retreat that leaves a lasting impression.
