Ham Rong is worth a visit when it's not cloudy in Sa Pa. The entrance fee is acceptable, but the viewpoint is from our point of view the only highlight in the park.
The viewpoint is a little bit difficult to find, but once found the view on Sa Pa is really nice.

It is more of a hill than mountain but it has a great view of Sapa town at the top. No guide needed.

Not as touristy as other areas, but you will get the best view of SAPA here. Be prepared for lots of steep steps and high chance of not know where you are. Everything else along the hike was just poorly maintained and not all that pleasing to the eyes. The top of the mountain is totally worth it though.

Strange place. We wanted to hike up the mountain but don't know if this is possible, we arrived at a gate which looked like someone's home and farmland and didn't want to trespass.

The "resort" is a strange, strange place with weird statues, unkempt gardens, unexplained sites, random restaurants, and paths to nowhere. It was fairly pretty at times with flowers but I felt like I was in a strange video game or beginning of a horror film walking around an abandoned children's resort. A fun way to spend an hour - and I'd much rather have done this than one of the other tourist traps.

As the funicular at Fansipan was closed and we had a few hours to burn, we decided to do a little hike up Ham Rong Mountain, as a 'warm up' for our 2D 1N trek the next day. Good views once you reached the top. The trail was not very well marked and the place could do with some maintenance.

It is the best place to see Sapa town from the top of the mountain. It took us around 40 minutes to the top of the mountain with 8 years old. You can see 180 degrees of Sapa town. There are 2 different routes to the top - one easy and one harder but more attractive. We took the harder one when we went up but took the shortcut when we came down. You might be confused about finding the right path to the top as there are no English signs, however, there are some arrow marks on the ground so you follow the arrows.

There are animal statues and a botanical garden too. We spent there around 1.30 hours. You can easily walk from the town. The entry fee is 70k for adults and 35K for kid.

Even though the weather was gray and misty - and it was winter - we went to Ham Rong. The flowers were really pretty and while the statues of the animals of the Chinese zodiac weren't all in the best shape, they were fun and lively. Plus, it's funny that they chose Mickey Mouse, Scooby Doo, and Tom (the cat from Tom and Jerry)! If you go up to the top, they offer cross-bow shooting (toys, basically, not dangerous). There are lots of options for light food and drink as well as lots of souvenirs - specifically ethnic minority clothing - in the park as well as on the road to it. It was well worth the trip and inexpensive entry fee. Just be careful of your footing when it is misty or rainy.

You can access the entrance behind the Church. There's an entrance fee applied. There' re a few attraction on the mountain. The first stop is the Orchid garden, i was told there' re more than 200 types of orchid here but they were not in bloom when i was there. Next noticeable stop is the Peach blossom garden with a few hundreds trees, however we were unlucky as the bloom period just passed. Continue up and you should see Cloud yard and Heaven gate, named so because at certain time of the day, you will be cover by mist/cloud here. It was clear when we reached there though :( So as you see, it all depends on your luck

If the weather is good, one should not miss this attraction. It gives a bird eye view of the entire Sapa town. The climb can be challenging but it is worth the effort. Be careful of the slippery surface of the steps.

The good thing is the attraction is right in the town centre. Easily accessible
However, the place looks out dated without much maintenance.
Anyway good for a visit if one has nothing much to do.
Cat cat trekking n fansipan much better.
