About
At the end of the motor way about 25 Km from Sapa town lies a vast and flat valley, circled by mountains and hills. It is Ban Ho valley home to the Tay ethnic. The Muong Hoa River winds its way around the village provide fresh water for 2 crops of rice and bean every year and it make the scenery of the valley more romantic.

Day three of our hike and really enjoying the scenery although the Dams are starting to damage the environment. No fish left in the rivers. Nice village and great to go down to the river and skim stones. Locals will follow you to where you are staying and try to sell you stuff.

We hired a cab to take us there and hang out with us until we go back. Even he was excited to be there and was taking pictures and face timing with his friends what he was seeing.

This place is what I expected Sapa to be. So if you're upset that Sapa looks like Vegas is Vietnam, then head this way.

The road was insane. It's only 20-30km, but it's over an hour drive.

We visited by motorbike and had a beer on the river. It has a small market and a number of home stays. It would be quite cool to stay and explore for a bit. The river is a great feature. There was a restaurant across the river as well but maybe that opens at night. You will probably get found by the local village girls selling their wares they were lovely though.

Far away from Sa Pa, we only came as we were doing the 3 day trek - which meant it was far less touristy and as a result a more authentic feel for the villages in Sa Pa. Lovely views from the valley and a pretty river and waterfall. The homestay here (with Sa Pa sisters) was great, with home picked fruit for breakfast! You can walk to Nam Toong from here which is a very rural and rustic village.

We took 3d2n trekking tour with 1st night @Tavan village and 2nd night @Banho village.

It was a good journey to Banho and overnight experienced in Banho even though the tour agent and tour guide keep asking whether we want to change 2nd night in Sapa hotel and fortunately we didn't take up their offer.

Along the journey to Banho we passing by corn farms, rice terrace fields with total distance of 12km from lunch stop, and the moment we entered the village we seen a clean and organise local residences.

Friendly homestay owners greeted with welcome tea and steam corns, fantastic dinner compared Tavan homestay and even served "happy water" for us to try.

I would strongly recommend you don't give up 2nd night homestay in Banho.

Ban Ho Village is an ideal way to experience the local life. The important thing is to go there, preferrably alone, not with a tour guide or any agency as they are bringing you to the most touristic places and hawkers are following you from beginning to end, even when you are eating your lunch. So try to go there as early as possible before tourist groups arrive. It is always better to go some people's houses and ask them small food or handicrafts and give them money voluntarily. Of course you can also see rice terraces on your way to the village.

A nice and interesting walking track through the whole village. Walk slowly and take a look to every house, every farm and every direction. Enjoy the modest way of life of the local people. Don't hesitate to ask simple questions: they can speak English a little bit.

So glad i came here, in fact we were the only tourists there. The village is set in a beautiful valley with a lovely clean river - kind of like a paradise. There is even a suspension bridge over it. Much more authentic than cat cat village.
