We love the Refuge. The visitors center is very informative. From the visitors center you can access a variety of different walking/hiking trails. Whether you are looking to take a short stroll or a longer hike, you can find what your looking for here. Snowshoeing or skiing the trails in the winter is a real treat.

Amazing experience. All bus rides are fun but take the 8 hr it's perfect. If the weather is clear you will mt McKinley and great potential to see a lot of wild life inside the park.

The KNWR is the playground for all of us on the Kenai peninsula! We go hiking, fishing, Nordic skiing, biking, and exploring with our family year round in this wildlife refuge. The Kenai national wildlife refuge is by far one of our favorite places to recreate in Alaska!

They have built a new refuge building... and have great hands on exhibits. I hope all the schools are going here and helping our children understand how the animals and the land and the people all fit together in this great land

A beautiful slice of Alaska. A gravel road takes you through the forest. There are a couple of turn outs with scenic views. Numerous hiking trails start along the road. Also some short side roads to mostly smaller lakes. Most lakes have campsites and some are even free. If timing is right you may even see some local life: moose,... More

We visited for a couple of hours while touring the Kenai Peninsula. The visitor center is great, with really helpful rangers who suggested activities. On their advice, we hiked to the lake and followed some of the adjacent trails looking for wildlife. There's an eagle's nest close to the visitor center. .

We went to the visitors center and did the tour there. The rangers were very helpful and very well informed. It was not a large exhibit but well done. They have a couple of short walking tours right there. As always in Al. People are killed by bears and moose every year so be aware of how to avoid problems.... More

We made a brief visit here before heading south. We were impressed by their displays and the information that accompanied it. Wish we had more time to explore the roads and trails they had. Well worth a stop and conveniently located near Hwy.
