    Thats why its called Fishing
Its called Fishing for a reason. We booked through Holland America and were taken by bus out to the cove. We were assigned to the Katrina Lynn who skipper is Skip. 6 people on the boat with 4 lines out. So we had to rotate. We didn't do very well with one hooked and lost and one catch. However Alaska fish and Game that requires a King Salmon stamp won't let you catch on until June 14. So the one hooked had to be released prior to bringing it on the boat. Nobody out on the number of boats had success on this day. Skip and his wife were very pleasant. So thats why its called fishing not catching

    Salmon Fishing Excursion
Booked our Salmon Fishing trip through Disney Cruise line. They split people into groups of 4-6 for the fishing boats. We got very lucky and were a group of 3 on the Big Sky with Captain Heather. It was great for our 9-year-old daughter to see a female boat captain running her own boat and managing all the fishing gear etc. Heather is a badass and worked hard to get us into some fish. We ended up catching 8 salmon. None were big enough to keep, but that was okay with us as we heard it was exorbitant to ship back to the US. Overall we had an awesome day with great weather. We heard it is often rainy though, so make sure to pack rain gear.

Will be hard to beat this one!!! Highlight of our trip so far
We had an amazing time with Captain Heather on Big Sky! We caught so many fish that we could not keep them all, and she went out of her way to make sure that my 5 year old was safe. We had whale sightings so close to our boat that we seriously considered cancelling our whale watching excursion in Juneau , and also saw sea lions and eagles. Highly recommend this excursion and could not be happier!

Best deal in town and worth it.
I traveled to Ketchikan for a wedding with my 12yr old grandson. We weren't doing charters or sightseeing, mostly hanging out with family and friends. This suite was perfect for our needs. Plenty of room to have visitors. A kitchen with full-sized appliances, a coffee maker, a toaster, and a free laundry just downstairs. The cupboards had lots of essentials too. The 2 beds were very squeaky but comfortable enough. There are 2 futon couches in the living room that fold out and even an air bed with a pump. The futons were not comfortable at all and sagged terribly. The room sleeps 6-8 which is great for big families. My grandson loved it and walked down to the marina easily. It has a huge deck with chairs and a gas grill. I did wish for a view. Such a nice outdoor space but trees block the view. They had a special deal that included a skiff for our use but we didn't use it. A very cool addition to our reservation though. There are steller sea lions that swim around the marina frequently. There have also been humpback whales right by the marina too. Lots of eagles and bears around. Oh yes, there is free wifi. I would recommend staying at Knudson Cove and will stay there again.

    Great Salmon Fishing
We went Salmon fishing via our cruise ship and luckily we picked to fish from the Knudson Cove Marina. We had Mike and Celeste as our Captain and fishing instructor on the Lucky boat. Mike was very patient with us as 4 of us are not fisherman. Celeste captained the boat while Mike prepared the fishing poles. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as we reeled in salmon after salmon while following Mike's instructions. My wife and I caught 5 Pinks and 1 Silver and had the marina fillet and ship the salmon back to us for enjoyment. We highly recommend this Marina and if you're "Lucky" enough (no pun intended) to get Mike and Celeste, you won't be disappointed.

Best fishing experience in Ketchikan, AK
On a scale of 1 to 5, this experience was an over-the-top 10! Our fishing boat Captain, Heather, is highly skilled and knowledgeable. Her attention to detail, along with her natural talent and love of fishing made our salmon catching experience one of the best events of our trip to Ketchikan, AK aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship. Capt. Heather’s fishing and navigating knowledge is encyclopedic. She is a gifted teacher of the sport. Her enthusiasm for Alaska is contagious. Our party of four each caught Coho salmon to ship home, and we caught smaller fish species that were fun to catch and release. We had a fish on within 5 minutes of dropping our lines. Heather can really hold her own. You won’t go wrong with her at the helm and you won’t go home empty handed. Whether you’re experienced or a novice we HIGHLY RECOMMEND Captain Heather.

My brother and I recently (July 4, 2023) did a salmon fishing excursion in Ketchikan, booked through Princess Cruises, and it was absolutely incredible! We took a bus to Knudson Cove Marina, and everyone was assigned a boat, which each took 4-6 people. The bathrooms at the marina were nice and clean, and there was a big shop that we enjoyed shopping in after our fishing trip. Our boat, Big Fish, was very nice, completely covered, and had a place to sit and a bathroom. There were crackers and yummy salmon spread to snack on, and beverages available. The scenery alone was worth the trip as we saw a nearby whale a couple of times and salmon skipping along the top of the water. Captain Doug was knowledgeable and super friendly, and he had the lines in the water within minutes of leaving the marina. The fish were biting so fast that we frequently had two people reeling in fish at a time. We did catch some King Salmon, but they had to be released as they weren’t legal size. We did keep Pink salmon and Keta salmon, though. We picked one of the smaller pink salmon and had it sent back to the ship, where the main dining room chef cooked it up for our dinner that night. The salmon was so fresh and delicious! We ended up having the other 10 salmon processed by the marina and shipped home. We were able to pick the day for it to be delivered so that it would be after we got back. We ended up getting around 40 lbs of fresh Alaskan salmon sent home. I highly recommend fishing with Captain Doug on Big Fish and Knudson Cove Marina / Fish processing to anyone looking for a fun and rewarding experience. Can't wait to go back next year!

6, 60 year old plus men on a once of a lifetime salmon trip in Alaska ruined by Capt Heather who berated us for 3 hours on every move we made. Treated us like 2 year olds the entire time. We have all fished many times before and are not novices. We were continually scolded and talked down to and treated like shi!
How we bit our tongues for the entire time is beyond me 😡😡😡

Back in 2018 my wife and I love the trip. So we decided to do another excursion with them, 2022 they seem to change a lot on there ways of doing the excursion...
1. They pack the boats with 6 people instead of 4 like last time, so it takes a while when it's your turn to reel em in. ( No biggie though)

2. If you want to ship your fish after you catch it, I recommend you don't. Here's why, you get about 40% of your fish after they cut it and they say "some parts of the fish are bad" I remember when they shipped last time during 2018, if you connect all the fish after it's been cut, it was the total amount. Don't know what happened in 2022, last they put the smallest hand size cool jelly to keep your fish cold. When we got our fish in the mail, ( literally seconds after the delivery guy drops it off) the fish is room temperature.
The reason I gave them 1 star is after I email them about the situation, her name was Rachel Wiggins. She responded everything in a timely manner until I responded, "the fish was room temperature" she stopped emailing me after she wrote " okay, thanks" and stopped responding. So if you want to roll the dice on shipping your fish for $250. Best of luck.
