Before we left on our Alaska cruise we did some research on different things to see how we were in port for a long time.
So on our self guided walk we ended up at the governor house. It was differently out of the way but was a nice walk. It was neat to see but I don't think it is a must. But if you are bored and would like to go for a walk to get away from the tourist area this is a great place to head.
When we turn around to leave we seen a baby bear than with in seconds the mama. Was really neat to see them just walking by.

We went on a tour of Juneau and saw the Governor’s mansion from a distance. It was pretty but hard to believe that it was so close to downtown.

I enjoyed walking to the Governor's Mansion. Reminds me of the architecture from my home state Mississippi. The grounds and home are nicely maintained. The walk to the mansion is a workout but now I can say I've seen the Alaska Governor's Mansion.

We told that the mansion was open for tours, but after a long walk threw all we did was walk around it and move on. Disappointed.

It's the governor's mansion. Good for him. Not sure why this is listed as an attraction. If the Governor invites you to lunch here, go.

We drove by the mansion, and it is interesting and historic. It is pretty and easy to visit. If you are in luck, you can wave at the governor.

We passed the Governor's Mansion on a tour through Juneau and it is a very striking white structure with columns in the front and a very nice totem pole on the right side. There do not appear to be tours of the mansion. We got a chuckle from the idea that Tina Fey (during a skit where she was posing as Sarah Palin) stated something like,"I can see Russia from the front porch". Unfortunately, many people mistakingly believe it was Sarah Palin herself that made that remark.

Went to visit because of Sarah. Wanted to see if you could see Russia. Surprised another politician lie. It is a nice place. Not far to walk from the cruise ship terminal. Worth the look if you like homes and wood work.

I recently did some minor restorative work on the Gov Mansion and got to go inside quite a bit. Very nice woodwork to be seen inside although this is not, by modern interpretation, a mansion. It's more of a nice old house. I still recommend taking a look because the walk up there is nice and it's in a fairly nice part of town but don't expect to see a gaudy, 10 million dollar estate.

A bit of a climb to get there but the Governor’s house is worth a look at. Set amongst a number of other prime properties it has good views across the bay
