    Good fun
A must for every tourist. The beer is good, the red wine comes in two varieties - cheap stuff or expensive stuff. The cheap stuff was just fine and was a generous pour. Do try the reindeer sandwich. Just fabulous. Look behind the bar at Wyatt Earp’s pistol and don’t ask the barman what the mounted beaver is. Have fun.

    Fun Little Saloon
Visited the Red Dog Saloon while cruising Alaska. This is a very old & small saloon whose tables are tiny and close together. It is very well decorated how you’d think an old saloon in Alaska would be. Animal mounts, old pictures, even some old guns including Wyatt Earp’s on the walls. Staff was very friendly and helped speed us along as we were in a bit of a time crunch. It’s mostly sandwiches and bar food so we tried the reindeer sandwich, taku salmon burger, & chicken strips. All were good. Their side options are limited so we just got bagged chips. Food I’d rate 3.5/5 but service & atmosphere I’d rate 5/5. This was a good spot to stop for some local cuisine if ever visiting Juneau.

Crowded, but quick service and good food/drinks
This was a fun place! Cool decor. The music (keyboard) was quite loud. Very crowded, but food was good and service was quick. We had duck fart shots - just because that’s what they are famous for. They were good too! Gift shop attached on your exit from the saloon.

My friends and I stopped at the Red Dog for lunch and a duck fart in late June. We had a good time at the saloon, except when we reminded the waitress we wanted a split check she got a little unnecessarily snarky. Food was good as was the duck fart.

Afterwards we went next door to the mercantile where we bought some t-shirts and stuff. We were on a cruise ship when we stopped in Juneau and by the time I got back to the boat and tried on the shirt it was clear it was way too small, even though it was an XL. It was rather pricey for a t-shirt, so I immediately went ashore to get a refund. At the store I was told unequivocally that there were no refunds and that it was a woman's size XL. Even though I had it only about 30 minutes, there was no bending the rules by the staff and the manager reportedly wasn't around. There was no signs indicating in the store indicating what area was men's and women's clothing. I ultimately exchanged the pricey shirt for 2 others. Beware of this policy if you are shopping at the Red Dog Mercantile and make sure it fits before you pay for it,

The building and history is awesome but when the 80 + piano player began his show the cool nature of the place disappeared. The language and songs were more than fowl. Not a place for kids let alone adults. Very demeaning songs towards women. The food was terrible, fish and chips a joke. Won’t be returning

Packed house, host was great getting our party of 14 in. This review is specifically for the red headed waitress who worked lunch on 6/16. Might be the rudest, most confusing experience I’ve ever had. We were seated and ordered drinks. When it came to my 16 year old daughter, she told the waitress “I’m fine with this”, holding up a paper cup half full of water she had carried in with her. The waitress didn’t give any other instruction, but huffed off, turned around and yelled, “it’s illegal to bring outside drinks in”. Ok, didn’t know that was an issue and host didn’t care as we came in. So I called her back over, a little confused (and frustrated) by her anger towards us and said “did you not want our business?” She proceeded to chastise us, like we had wronged her personally, about how it’s illegal to bring drinks in in Alaska and that they would lose their liquor license. I simply said, “couldn’t you have just said that and offered my daughter a water from here instead?” And she literally hugged and stomped off. We got up and left. I have never written a bad review and am never too picky but this was ridiculous. She needs a different job, maybe one where she doesn’t have to interact with people.

Not sure I should even write a review. I have always heard great thigs about the Red Dog Saloon so we stopped by while on a cruise. It was so packed we couldn't get near the bar. It was standing room only. Looked like fun but nowhere to go once inside. We left after a couple minutes of trying to navigate the crowd. They must have something going good with that amount of people in there. Guess we will try again next time. There were 3 cruise ships in town so I assume that was why.

Outing to ride with the sled dogs was cancelled due to low visability. Could see a thing from the top of the tram so walked into town & ended up here. It was quite early but we were not the only ones. Enjoyed a couple of duck farts (its a drink, google it) and the other couple was doing double Jamison's. We had a great walk back to ship!! Really enjoyed this place

The Red Dog Saloon is one of those places that has become a kind of "must-do" stop for tourists. The bbothel-turned honky-tonk bar is packed with tourists anytime a cruise ship is in docked. The decor is eclectic and fun; the floor covered with sawdust; and there is an energetic entertainer. Good beer on tap at steep prices, but not out of line with other places. I didn't appreciate the rather snarky bartender, who seemed to think it was humorous to put customers down and embarrass them.

The atmosphere was cute and fun to look at everything hanging up on the walls. Clam chowder was good. Shrimp basket was like long johns silver my hubby said… wouldn’t recommend that. The pretzel with cheese… the cheese was runny and cold. Waitress was nice. Probably Won’t go back unless I just wanted chowder.
