We just returned from Juneau. This was the 10th time we have gone to Mendenhall Glacier. DO NOT make the MISTAKE of taking the BLUE BUS to the Glacier. We were told that a bus would come to pick us up at the Glacier at least every 30 minutes. This was a LIE. They only had one bus and the... More

We walked off our cruise ship and there were mini booths there with locals selling tours and so we went to talk to them. We wanted transportation out to Mendenhall Glacier Park and back. And that is what we got. It was $30pp for a ride there and back. The bus driver gave commentary all the way there and that... More

We took the blue bus from Juneau over to Mendenhall glacier. It leaves from the dock area right by the cruise ship at the bottom of the tram. Much cheaper to do on your own than through cruise ships. The schedule is very flexible so can accommodate along with other activities - just need an hour or more for the... More

This excursion involved a trip to the Mendenhall Glacier, Whale-Watching Cruise and City Tour. Think bus stop travel. A bus takes you to the glacier and leaves you there for 40 minutes or so to explore the area. Another bus picks you up at the Goat Bus Stop and takes you to a boat for your whale watching cruise. The... More

We opted to catch the Blue Bus to see the Mendenhall glacier instead of going on the cruise ship excursion. I am really glad that we did. It was easy to purchase a ticket and access the bus within close proximity to the ship. Buses leave in regular intervals allowing you to leave when you are ready. Our bus driver... More

We found the kiosk to buy tickets to the glacier on the Blue Bus. However, for an extra $10, we chose to do a city tour too. Our guide, Lynda, is a fourth generation Alaskan and gave us so many new facts about Juneau. She did a good job getting those great photos. The last stop is at Mendenhall. She... More

At the square by Mt. Roberts Tramway there are kiosks to buy tickets. Cheaper than the cruise ships by far. They leave frequently and drop you off near the visitor center. We missed the return bus but the White Bus took us back. Both drivers narrated the whole way.

The blue bus advertises $15 one way, when booking you are told you can only book a return. Why not advertising $30 return? We paid by credit card and when checking the charge later , the amount we were charged $ 63 for 2 persons instead of $60. There is no sale tax in Alaska The driver up to the... More

We decided to do our own thing in Juneau by making our way to the Glacier with the Blue Bus then doing the approx 7km east glacier loop hike at the base of the glacier, which gave us some different views to what was out the front of the visitor centre. I would recommend a good base level fitness for... More

The shuttle from the cruise ship (actually downtown parking lot) to the glacier was nothing special but it did suffice for reliable and cheap transportation.
