At the moment the lake is still frozen, so you can hike across out to the glacier and check out those ice caves. Totally worth it! Take good footwear with grips, because it's very slick in the ice caves. Wouldn't recommend for people who aren't particularly mobile or sure-footed.

In order to see the Glacier more clearly, it is better to walk all the way to the waterfall. Be prepared for the rainy weather and wear ponchos or waterproof jacket. However, there are too many cruise tourists ...

We hopped on the bus right outside the cruise terminal and took the ride through town to the Park. Great hiking trails and view from all angles of the Glacier. You can even dip your toes into the Glacier lake or swim if you are brave! Visitors center has great information and you can actually touch some ice from the... More

The view was stunning. Gatineau Guiding was a recommended tour group from Meredith a local waitress working at The Hanger pub. Whale Watching and Photo Safari with a bonus!! Brian Doyle and Captain Jenn made our day,,! Brian was a great tour guide. His knowledge of the flower and fauna while touring near the Mendenhall Glacier, to his expertise with... More

Took tour bus from ship to Mendenhall Glacier. There was as area where you could walk down a path for a closer look. It was around 30 degrees the day we went and it started to snow. It really is spectacular to see in person. If you are in Juneau it's really a must see!

What a beautiful sight. Ranger Dan came on board to tell us all about the glacier - thanks Ranger Dan. People where very respectful by allowing everyone to take pictures and talked quietly among themselves as to not take away from the beauty.

Went to the Mendenhall Glacier with wife and 21 year old daughter. Walked across the frozen lake towards the Glacier and the ice caves. Walk is just over 2 miles across the lake. It was cold (14 degrees) and windy. But the walk was fairly easy with a path packed into the snow. When we got to the Glacier side... More

My attention was immediately drawn to the stunning blue glacier nestled between snow covered mountains at the foot of which was a beautiful lake. I've never seen quite that color blue in nature before, even in all my travels to various seas. There is a pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms, and a visitors center. There is also a boardwalk... More

We signed up for a shuttle bus to take us to Mendenhall Glacier on a cool rainy day. The ride was about 20 minutes and we were dropped off a short walk from the ranger station. The walk to the glacier is less than a mile, but some of the terrain is rocky or uneven so it may be a... More
