This place is only fun when the bears are around. The salmon was gone when we were here, and then there is not much to see at the observation point. Though, it is made to see bears up close, so much be exciting when they are around.

Fish Creek Observation site is the place bears come to fish it is on the outskirts of Hyder which the Americans proudly say is a Ghost Town. If you are lucky you can get to see a bear fishing though the time I was there they were arriving earlier than the opening hours of the viewing area but the evidence... More

Take advantage of the opportunity to stroll down the fish Creek board walk and bear viewing area. For a moderate fee, you get a chance to see grizzly bears up close, catching their fill of salmon in preparation for winter

Much thanks to the rangers at the Fish Creek Wildlife Boardwalk! You guys have so much patience dealing with "bear paparazzi" from all over the world. My husband and I visited the week of Sept 10, somewhat after the big salmon trip up river. We got there at 7am and was greeted by a young skinny Griz crossing the road... More

Great spot to see Salmon spawning and bears in the wild catching salmon. It took us a couple of visits before we saw a bear despite being in peak season. You don't really need a long lens camera as the bears can be quite close to the boardwalk, but a zoom is handy to focus past the crowds. Best time... More

Wanted to make sure we stopped here with the kids. Awesome place, followed the raised boardwalk above the river system that keeps you save from the bears, and us away from them. amazing view of the spawning happening in the river from life to death, great eco system. Watched for black bears with the other large groups of people with... More

By the time we were at Fish Creek in late August, the Bears were really tired of eating Salmon, so we did not see Bears from the viewing platform area. However it was fascinating to see hundreds of Pink and Chum Salmon still spawning, dying or dead. Nature's true circle of life!

No-one's fault, but there were no bears and hadn't been for the 2 days prior to our visit - plenty of salmon, both dead and alive. Just bad luck. Bears are obviously expected, as professional photographers appeared to have settled in and must be patient. However, the set-up is good, offering great views of the creek and protecting humans from... More

We visited early September and saw soooo many spawning salmon. The boardwalk is a great idea and a safe way to view the bears feeding on the salmon. Lots of great info on the salmon in the area and their life cycle. A must visit at the right time of year - end August to early September
