Don't let the outside fool you, this is a great museum. Larger than it looks. Lots to do and see for all ages. When your done fishing, take a day for the Pratt. If you have small kids, make sure they arrive for aquarium feeding time.

We always send guests to the Pratt Museum. The top floor has the best collection of Homer and Kachemak Bay memorabilia. There are some fun movies. The aquarium is fun and if you time it right you can watch them feed the fish. Downstairs there is a really great exhibit on the Valdez oil spill.

This museum gives a great overview of Alaska history including wildlife and native people. I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Homer.

Nice place which is historically accurate with displays and info. I've lived in Alaska 57 years and I've seen some so-called museums which are a total sham. This is one that is "legit" as one would say.

The Pratt is one of the best small museums in the US and won an award for this. You will find the history of the land and the people here, the homesteaders, which are still alive, and the Natives who live in the Kachemak Bay area. Plans are well into progress to build on site a new museum in the... More

We dropped into the Pratt on a rainy day and were very pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the various exhibits on items of area interest. We were only going to stop for a few minutes but kept finding more and more things of interest so the time flew by. Highly recommend

The Pratt Museum is a great place to learn our town/state's history. They have lots of early Alaskan subjects. The Exxon Valdez oil spill shows the effects of our economy and how bad it got for the poor animals that suffered from it. Check this place out, it's great.

Has footage of homesteading families, how they lived 60 years ago, how they reflect on their roots today

This little museum packs a lot of information into a small space. The exhibits told the history of the region with interesting and interactive displays. There was even a small garden showing the native plant communities of the area. A wonderfully interesting museum. Highly recommended!
