Took a wildlife tour that took us up the valley and out to the lake. Our guide, Pam was terrific. She was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. We took a walk through the forest that was just breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting this beautiful place.

No bear action in April, or none when we were there. Campground wasn't open so we just drove the rode and watched our old merganser friends on the river. Lake still mostly iced over.

Photographed three brown bears along Chilkoot River. A Mom and two cubs allowed good photos as they were busy eating fish.

fun to watch the bears and eagles. need to be very careful these bears are not caged or domesticated so stay back and enjoy

We did a bear watching excursion on our tour and we had a great time. They took us along the Chilkoot. The guides were great and worked hard to get us as near as possible to the bears while keeping us safe.

We were on a fishing tour in Haines. We found the views of the Chilkoot River breathtaking as we made our way to Chilkoot Lake. Our fishing guide saw some cars parked and many out taking photos, so he was nice enough to stop also....More

I was there during the salmon run so caught a lot of Pinks. People were also catching Dolly Varden.
