Headquarters of Chugach State Park. Limited hours because of state budget cuts. But has outdoor interests, like a HUGH snow blower for train tracks. Address s/b 18625 Seward Highway, Anchorage. it is just south of town on the right side of the road.

After driving past this many times I finally stopped with my kids (both a bit train-obsessed!) to check it out. The section house itself wasn't open but walking around there are many signs detailing what everything there was, from the garden to the outlying buildings and sheds. There is and old section car that can be climbed on, as well... More

Just a few pieces of equipment and a sign with a breif history. It took longer for us to find than to tour.
