Not a huge resort but it takes less than an hour to drive from Anchorage. Skiing can be cold, wet, and windy but on a nice day nothing really beats to view. Well maintained groomed trails. There are places for the more adventurous as well.

We rode the gondola to the top for the lunch and then found out our tickets were good all day. Late that afternoon we returned to the bar for drinks and stayed for a light dinner. Looks like a good place for beginners/intermediate skiers. Advanced...More

This is one of our favorite staycation destinations. It doesn't matter what time of the year it is, there is always something to do here. Tons of fun activities and festivals. Never disappointed. A must go and see/do.

This is a lovely area with lots of activities year round. There are several great hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and skiing in the winter. The views are magnificent and you can ride the tram to the top of the mountain for beautiful vistas.

Combine the Byron Glacier Trail (free), the Visitor Centre, the drive through the tunnel under Maynard Mountain, Portage Pass, and the Tram ride in one day. Finish it off with an amazing meal at Seven Glaciers, or if you'd like basic fare, there are plenty...More

You can walk the wildtrail and jump over with a tram over the river, the hike is about 2 hours, fantastic, ask the hotel for options!

We took the sky tram to the top of the resort and had lunch. The food was good but the view was breathtaking. So worth the visit:)

Right, the train is a nice ride. The winter schedule is limited, so check the Alaska railroad website to see if you can synchronize departure times. It's not super cheap, but neither are your other options...other than... More

I asked this question when there in August and was told no. Call Alyeska Resort to see if they have a shuttle you can take. If you can rent a car (I think you have to be 26), it is worth it. A world like no other unfolds... More
