The boat ride to the glacier was exhilarating, when you start off it looks like there is nothing and then you come up on the beautiful ,awesome view.

Due to global warming, the Glaciers have receded quite a bit. We hiked to Bryon Glaciers. The brochure says it's a 0.8 hike (one way), and the trail ends before a valley. But because the glacier has receded, you won't be able to see it. You'll need to walk through the valley and over a small hill. There's a Danger... More

Beautiful drive out to glacier, but it has receded to the point that you can no longer get out to the glacier. You can see Byron Glacier, but can not walk out to it.

We made a point to stop here and had to return because it was SO relaxing and beautiful. It was late October, very still, we did see small icebergs, the water level allowed us to be able to hike along the rim of the lake. Both times we spotted a moose as we head back to the main highway which... More

This is an easy trip from Anchorage and worth the time and effort. The road along the way has many spectacular sites and the glacier was incredible. Am counting down until we can visit again.

This is a great attraction! Spend some time admiring the mountains , the glacier , and the awesome work of the glacier. To me a visit to portage glacier was stepping out of a rather hectic present, and a welcomed visit to a peaceful and serene past. Don't miss this one!
