Great boat ride to the glacier. Took tons of pictures and enjoyed the viewing experience. The boat provided views from all angles and the staff was very friensly and knowledgeable

While it is ironic that you can't see Portage Glacier from the visitor center, it is absolutely worth the drive through the valley. The drive, itself, is gorgeous, and when you arrive at the large parking lot, you are treated with a nearly 360 degree...More

It's was very nice a little hard to see much because of the clouds. The visitor center was a little disappointing, only because they wanted money to go into a part of the center to basically listen to recordings of different things. The trip to...More

We hiked the Portage pass trail to get the amazing views of the glacier. This is one of those trails that I've been meaning to hike but put off for whatever reason. If you're visiting Alaska and you enjoy hiking, put this on your list...More

We spent a fantastic morning sailing on the "Ptarmigan" boat of the Portage Glacier. The day did not accompany anything, pus did not stop raining during the excursion, but in spite of it the views were fantastic

We took our 7 and 8 year olds on the 1 hour cruise out to the glacier, and I highly recommend it. Bring your jackets! It's gets much cooler as you near the glacier. I have beautiful pictures from this day trip!

We didn't go to Anchorage, expecting to see a glacier. But, we couldn't pass up the opportunity for an hour-long boat ride on Lake Portage to see Portage Glacier, just an hour outside Anchorage. The price, $39 each seemed reasonable; and at an hour long,...More

Visited 20 years ago...glacier was just outside the building. Now it's across the bay with just the fingers visible. Nice info inside. Needs more photographs of glacier with more glacier-ish interaction. Climate change.

That is a very hard question to answer. There are so many factors to consider, such as the weather. They are having a harsh winter this year. I would book in advance to be sure, but call the company for their read on it.
