I was hoping to get closer to the glacier but the viewing was nice and the staff was friendly. There are other glaciers you can go right up to; not this one.

I have visited this site many times and it never gets old. Weather changes quickly but the little trail is nice and great photo ops. The gift shop is informative and clean. Staff are friendly. A great stop on the busy drive between Anchorage and...More

The weather had been dreary all week and did not change the afternoon that we boarded the boat to see Portage Glacier. We dressed warmly knowing we would want to be on the top deck to see the sights. You can stay inside and there...More

A short boat trip is available to travel across lake to view glacier. The boat crew made the trip fun and there was plenty of time for pictures.

This is such a beautiful area to visit. Either take a guide with you or read a lot about Portage Glacier before you go. Take a tripod and a nice camera to get a lot of really nice pictures!

What a beautiful place. The glaciers are such a wonder of nature. It is a shame that they are slowly disappearing.

I do not have the GPS coordinates, but you cannot miss it. Head out of Anchorage on Seward Hwy down Turnagain Arm. The turn is roughly 2/3 the way to Seward and is well marked. The road is the first turn past the road to... More

That is a very hard question to answer. There are so many factors to consider, such as the weather. They are having a harsh winter this year. I would book in advance to be sure, but call the company for their read on it.
