Beautiful place... rugged mountain with glacier. It's always changing so don't miss it and go back often

Beautiful drive out to glacier, but it has receded to the point that you can no longer get out to the glacier. You can see Byron Glacier, but can not walk out to it.

We made a point to stop here and had to return because it was SO relaxing and beautiful. It was late October, very still, we did see small icebergs, the water level allowed us to be able to hike along the rim of the lake. Both times we spotted a moose as we head back to the main highway which... More

This is an easy trip from Anchorage and worth the time and effort. The road along the way has many spectacular sites and the glacier was incredible. Am counting down until we can visit again.

This is a great attraction! Spend some time admiring the mountains , the glacier , and the awesome work of the glacier. To me a visit to portage glacier was stepping out of a rather hectic present, and a welcomed visit to a peaceful and serene past. Don't miss this one!

This is a beautiful glacier, easy hike, great scenery. I have been up here four times with Ronda. The trails are fairly easy to navigate and even have wheelchair accessibility for the lower view. You can get very nice pictures of the glacier in its stunning blue colors. I wouldn't recommend the hike in the middle of winter even though... More

We saw the glacier on our way to Whittier, the views where breathtaking. Even though it was cloudy the views were incredible as fog rolled over the glacier into the valley.

We now joke that you go to Alaska a tourist, and you leave a Landscape Photographer. Just beautiful. We saw the glacier as part of the 907 All-in-One Tour-ask for Susan, she's the best! Tell her Blue Jupiter says hello!

Brought our 2 year old grandson and company from Michigan to admire the glacier. We parked and walked down to the glacier to touch and take pictures. The views were spectacular and our guests enjoyed it here along with the little one.

Portage Glacier as our goal is to perform the cruise to the glacier. If this day is a beautiful day do not hesitate and do the cruise that I find it to be the cheapest cruise to an Alaska glacier. True that the cruising relatively short total length and about an hour. Cost $ 39 per person, and in 2016... More
