The mile-long trail to get to the base is easy, and the ropes and chains attached just above the base help you get about halfway up, but the rest of the way is sheer face and free climb...get to the top like we did and...More

Some people writing here might have not gone to the top, because one actually cannot get there without equipment. We took this fun hike today north-south. It’s about 10 km from main road to main road and takes around 4,5 hours with a relaxed but...More

Te Rua Manga is a definite must when visiting Rarotonga! This decent ascent requires a moderate level of fitness but the reward of reaching the Needle is worth the ache of those calves let me tell yah!! 🎋

2 friends and I did this walk. We started from the north just out of the Avarua township, I would recommend having someone drive you to the start of the walk as it is more than 2 km if you walk from the sign. It...More

The hike was challenging not because of its degree of difficulty, but because of the condition of the trail. Truly natural. Well worth it though for a good view of the island from the top.

This was a gem from our trip, we went the back end (non waterfall) due to the waterfall being closed, what a hike, scaling up the hill pulling ourselves up on tree roots and tree ending up at the needle with the most amazing views,...More

They should be fine if they're reasonably fit. I saw plenty of teenagers up there. the walk isn't that far. Just a hassle at times
