Te Rua Manga track is amazing! We scootered to the northern/Avarua end of the track & started walking from there. We walked up to the needle, turned around & came back the same way, instead of doing the whole track. We ended up doing the...More

We did the track North to South after rain. Very hard slog going up but the tree roots made a good (although slippery) ladder. The side track to the Needle is a must for the views. The track down was very slippery and we had...More

Suggest using a guide. The path is not that difficult to follow but a guide opens up a wealth of knowledge about ecology, history and legend. Most also carry refreshments!

We did this north to south in 3h40m(started counting time from Saturday market in Avarua and stopped at the derelict Sheraton hotel with some stops along the way). Track is muddy, in incline and you will sweat, but it's well signalled. I recommend some trail...More

I recently completed the hike with a friend (north to south) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! While neither of us are particularly fit, we managed to scrambled up and down the path with no major dramas in five hours (we stopped frequently). The markers were...More

Went from south to north, parked our rental at waterfall car park. Pay your $5 as you come in off the main road, it was worth it because they gave us a lift back up to our car when we got off the bus from...More

Hiked the cross island trek on May 9. A kind staffer at our lodging (Te Vaka Roa in Muri) drove the four of us in our rental car to the suggested starting point on the north side of the island. The trek took us between...More

They should be fine if they're reasonably fit. I saw plenty of teenagers up there. the walk isn't that far. Just a hassle at times
