We climbed up the Needle which was quite a good hike. I would recommend good footwear like cross trainers not jandals. There are many roots which stick out and make the climb a little difficult. Great view! Would recommend!!

This hike is a great adventure! We visited in July 2017 and were told it was an 'easy 2 hour hike' . ... ha! Well, we were three 50-something adults (in good shape), and it took us almost 4 hours, I believe. There was mud,...More

I first climbed Te Rua Manga 20 years ago when I was 27 and backpacking around the world. This year I’ll be taking my 12 and 15 year old kids. A great little expedition and from memory some hairy ropes to help you get up...More

Kia Orana! Just did this hike last week, not for the weak and timid. Avoided going up the waterfall side, since some light rain day before. Came up from town, past the power plant. Flat grassy incline lulls you into your Happy Place until you...More

This is a fun and challenging hike (especially if you do not have a high fitness level). The views are not the best because of other mountains and the trees interfering. So do no go up expecting amazing views to the coast as you will...More

We walked in the reverse direction, so began at the waterfall end. We believe our walk was easier had we gone in the recommended direction. However, you would have Wigmores Waterfall at end of walk providing it has been raining.

This was quite the hike with our 7 year old, very slippery and steep sections but a must climb for those that love the rockies (Alberta)

A truly great 3-4 hour walk over the center of the island. We walked North to South from the Punanga Nui markets which adds about 45minutes, lots of people taxi to the actual track start though. You will need some decent footwear though, not sandals....More

You could... There are a few places where we used both hands to climb and it was slippery on the way down... Depends a bit if you are doing it alone or with another who could arrest a slip. I probably wouldn't do it alone... More
