This tiny island in Aitutaki's beautiful lagoon contains a post office and a single cabin that can be rented by visitors. Most visitors just come for the day to experience the tranquil location and to snorkel in the lagoon.

This is a case where the destination is beautiful, but it is the trip around and to the island that was fabulous! If you want to get your passporte stamped, well, the boat vendors have the stamp!! It's a nice place after a day or time out on the lagoon to just float around in the water and enjoy the water and the scenery. DO snorkel out to the buoy marker by the island as there are some really HUGE giant clams right there. Actually, you can see them without snorkel gear, swimming in about 12 feet of water. Otherwise, this really ISN'T a snorkeling destination.

Beautiful island but the experience could have been better. We were unceremoniously dropped off by a boat on an excursion arranged by Paul Gauguin cruise. The captain instructed us to take the plastic chairs from the boat with us. On shore there was a rather disorganized, crowded lunch of grilled fish, hot dogs, fruit and salad. Tables were reserved for Bishop excursions and we were left sitting on our plastic chairs for 3 hours. Lunch was rushed. On to the next group. Free water. One bathroom and you had to request the key. Workers seemed grumpy. Beautiful water for swimming and snorkeling. Three hours was a bit too long. Bring water shoes as the coral is sharp for walking.

We visited as part of the Aitutaki Day tour, spending the last part of the day walking and swimming round the island. It is simply amazing. We had great weather. The lagoon water is very warm, blue, and clear. We loved it. Sunblock is essential.

Just experiences one foot island last week and it was amazing. I walked around the entire island and every corner looked like those photos you see on a calendar of the best beaches in the world. I actually stood in front of the palm tree pictured here! Great day of snorkeling, swimming and just relaxing on the beach.

How the island got its name is a great folklore tale. Certainly one I will remember for ever.
Aitutaki lagoon is so impressive as a whole rather than the sum of its constituent parts.
Can't wait to find out if my mail makes it home from the island's Post Office!

We took a small boat cruise out to this deserted paradise... walked along the beach and was rewarded with the cutest stamp to my passport. Super sunny, brilliant white sand, tons of fish for snorkeling off shore by boat. We felt very safe and would recommend this spot to our friends.

We went with a tour to this beautiful island 1 foot island. The tour organised us a beautiful barbecue at the post office. We shared our lunch with the cat and chickens. And after lunch I got my postcards cancelled with a beautiful postmark. We had a wonderful swim with the big fish and lots of other sea life. It’s well worth the journey. Yeah would you say

Heaven on earth. We sailed in with our amazing tour and got our passports stamped. Had an island walk, an hour swim with the Giant Trevally. It was total bliss. The most pristine water we've experienced in the world. Wish we were there now.

Most of the tours, whether they are group or personal, will take you to One Foot Island. Bishops Cruises make you a yummy bbq lunch there if you go on one of their trips. Other than that there's not a lot to do or see there other than get your passport stamped which sounds kitsch but is kind of cool given you don't get many stamps these days. Snorkelling a bit further out is better as close to the island is a little murky, especially on the side the boats dock.

Stayed at Mcbirney house on one foot for two nights. Incrediable place!
The only down side was the mosquitos, but just need to plan for them and you will be fine.
We got engaged in front of the house, on the beach with bon fire, all very romantic.
Place was great, two cats, lizards, roosters and coconut crabs for company.
Day trippers arrive about midday and bugger off by 3pm, when we were there didn't bother us, quite nice for other company for a few hours!!
Happy to answer any questions
