The ‘must do’ day lagoon cruise aboard the 21 meter Polynesian style Vaka Titi ai Tonga.Every morning at 10am Mondays to Saturdays, the sound of the conch shell signals the departure of the Vaka for six hours of lagoon magic. There’s snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing to do before tucking into to an island barbecued lunch of fresh caught ocean fish served on board and accompanied by a full bar service.Visit several motu (small islets) and beach comb at One Foot Island before returning past the old TEAL flying boat base. Impromptu entertainment by the crew will have you tying pareu, weaving coconut leaf plates or humming island tunes. They are always happy to provide snorkelling lessons for first timers.

The Lagoon is gobsmacking and to experience it on the Vaka is the way to go. Weather can be a little tricky on Aitutaki and it doesn't take much to stir the lagoon up so if you can get a beautiful calm and sunny day on the Vaka then you are in for a life-long memory. The day we went... More

We really wanted to stay in Aitutaki but weren't able to get it sorted, so even though not a cheap option we took the day trip from Rarotonga. This is a must. What a beautiful place to visit. The weather was awesome (it had been raining in a Rarotonga for 5 days). The cruise is fabulous, you just cannot explain... More

We absolutely loved the snorkeling, the presentations, the live music and the delicious lunch! Swimming up close with giant trevally was such a great experience. It was also a fantastic opportunity for some mermaiding fun in the lagoon :-D A couple of things I would suggest though are firstly to have a special transport container for the young coconut crabs... Vakka Cruises is one of the larger operators, and at NZ$125 per head, costly, however it is definitely worth the money and provides a balanced and relaxed day out on the beautiful lagoon. There are a couple of pick up points and by 10 am you are off cruising across the crystal blue waters of the lagoon. The scenery is... More

I've opted for a day trip from Raro and this cruise was just a highlight of my entire trip. Lovely staff, unbelievable views, absolutely delicious lunch. Even though the weather wasn't the best those guys made it worth it.

We booked a day tour on Air Rarotonga, wondering if the cost would be worth it. We arrived in Aitutaki to a downpour of rain. They quickly offered a refund and immediate return to Raro to those who wanted a sunny day. Our schedule didn't allow for us to rebook, so we stuck it out. What a fantastic day it... More

We were already staying in Aitutaki so took the cruise to and from our resort, rather than flying over from Rarotonga first. An amazing day, cruising to 3 different islands, snorkling/swimming with lunch provided and fantastic onboard entertainment. We loved every minute of it!

One of the best day cruises I have ever done. The water is crystal clear and the snorkelling is unbelievable. I swam with GT's, I was nervous at first but the fish are so friendly. The crew are very knowledgable and are very proud of their island. Lunch was great, plenty to eat, lovely and fresh local food.

On the serious side of things...These guys are very safety conscious, they have up to date saftey equipment on board and the staff are well trained in how to use it. On the enjoyment side, these guys run an astounding tour, there's plenty of time to enjoy the islands & lagoon, the food includes a beautiful array of FRESH seasonal... More
