We visited as a part of a 4x4 tour, we got to learn and see about the history of their farming industries in the islands and about the harvest cycles of pineapples. We also got to taste some picked right there along the roadside. DELICIOUSLY sweet! Also very spiritual and serene presence there..

What a quick little trip up the bumpy road to see the beautiful fields of pineapples growing! Worth the detour for sure!

When we did the drive, we only saw two pineapple fields (no plantations) with no pineapples growing. The roads are not paved for about ½ of the drive so it hardly seemed worth the efforts of navigating potholes.

Some reviews said the road was bad. Not so. We had a tiny car with miniture wheels and it did just fine. It is not paved for a short stretch, but there aren't really any holes or ruts. Its a fine sand road ad a great way to get out in the jungle.

Beautiful 2 hour drive end to end including this route.
We were able to see the whole coastline and some interior which showed the business of this island.

Moorea has fantastic sea related views, the tourquise water the lagoons, the scuba etc. however this short road takes you to the inland where you can see huge pineapple fields embedded in the beautiful forests and surrounded by towering mountains

If you are doing the Belvedere Lookout you should include this route to see the pineapple plantations up close. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to do just this drive. Great views, but you are on a bumpy, dirt road most of the way so easy to give a miss.

Pineapples, pineapples, pineapples! This road to Belvedere Viewpoint is gorgeous and worth the time to see the interior of Moorea. Very lush and inspiring on a sunny day!

We did an island tour and had an excellent guide. It was well-worth our time and the money. This was a very scenic portion of the tour as it got us into the interior of the island and it appeared we were the only non-locals there (and not more than a few locals working in the pineapple fields). Probably best to go on a tour or, if you're driving yourself, rent an SUV since there can be some flooded spots on the dirt road.

During our 4x4 tour, we stopped along the road to admire the mountainous interior of Moorea and learn a little bit about the island's pineapple plantations. ! plant will produce 1 fruit each year, for 4 years, before requiring a year free of the plant for the soil to replenish it's nutrients.
