This is a Moorea "must do". The boat trip is ordinary but you get to snorkel over some pretty reefs but the highlight is going to a sandbar in the lagoon on a canoe where they attract the rays and sharks and you swim with them. They say they are harmless but you are on edge the whole time. A photographers dream visit.

Pick up at the ferry ....... I waited one hour no one so ask for a contact number cell phone to contact the owner hiro if no one show up it was my case last week no contact number no cell phone
The police station att he port helped me to find a way to reach the owner and after one hour he sent us a taxi driver to pick us up
The tpur is so so the best part is to swim with the sharks and rays frankly the full day tour doesn't worth it you stay on a motu not nice to have lunch frankly a waste of time

I am in complete agreement with Catbert121's review. This could have been a great excursion if it had been executed better. The overcrowding of the boat was unacceptable.

Our pick-up/transfer arrived shortly after 9am and we were taken to the Pearl Hotel where all the other guests were waiting. Marco the tour guide apologised for the delay in departure, saying there was a strike and they were held up refuelling.
Finally we were all loaded onto the vessel and we cruised past 2 beautiful bays and seeing Moorea from the ocean was very special and well worth taking the tour for that alone although Marco had also been very entertaining along the way.
At an appointed spot we threw anchor and guests jumped in to swim with the sharks and rays expressing varying degrees of emotions from fear to delight!
Marco was in his element feeding the rays who were all around him. It was quite an adventure!
From there we went to a tiny uninhabited motu (island) where we anchored and went ashore for a bar be que lunch which was pleasant enough - fresh lettuce, chicken, fish, some fruit, a rice salad and french bread. There were beer and soft drinks but not "open bar" as advertised.
On the return journey we actually dropped guests at their hotels - Intercon and Hilton and then we got off at Cooks Bay where Hiro was waiting and he personally dropped us back to our hotel.

Booked to do snorkeling tour Wednesday morning and had to hire our own snorkeling gear (weird considering its a snorkel tour...) meant to be picked up at 8am and pick up didn't arrive. Reception was advised 15 minutes later tour was cancelled with no explanation. Very disappointing. Later when talking with a local she advised that she saw hiros boat out on the water...

Not true because hotel did not advise that the company s tour was full already and hotel s are deviating info because they want clients to book with them with 40% commissions on tours; manager.

Coming off a cruise, our group was approached at the ferry terminal in Moorea by a man called Olivier, who wanted you to think he was some sort of tourism official—I suspect he was a salesman. He actually escorted us up to the ferry entrance where we sat down at a café. The cafe manager, speaking in French, seemed irritated with something, announcing that this is a cafe. He apparently told her we were going to order something and she settled down. He then gave us the pitch about tours. I later wondered if they had a problem with his hitting on their customers with a sales pitch. He promised that Hiro's tour would cost less than if we booked the same type of tour through the hotel (that was true). So we agreed and provided a 10% cash deposit.
I had done a similar trip before with our cruise ship's subcontractor and it was outstanding. I wanted my traveling companions to experience it when we were staying in a hotel post cruise.
The day of the tour, we were picked up at our hotel about a half hour before the tour was to begin. We did not board the boat till an hour after we were picked up, having to wait around in another hotel lobby for all the tour guests to arrive.
First of all, it was very uncomfortable with 36 people crowded into the boat. Fortunately, the stops at Cook’s Bay and Oponohu Bay were very interesting.
The subject never came up but the boat did not provide snorkel equipment. We always use our own anyway, so hadn’t asked about equipment on the boat. The ladder into the water was very slippery.
The stingray shark area was so crowded that day which, of course, is not Hiro's fault. I guess it t would be hard, whatever the conditions of the tour, to not be in awe of the shark and stingray experience.
Hiro referred to himself as President of something in Moorea and, in the course of his narrative, said the hotels were screwing the little guy and we should support small businesses like his.
The motu beach picnic was ok but, in hindsight, we would have taken a tour that was shorter and didn't stop for a lunch break. There was enough "just ok” food and beer, but really lousy picnic tables and benches; then we had an hour to kill. After lunch, the serving bowls were washed in the sea; I can only hope they were going to take them back and properly wash them.
At the end of the tour, it was nice to be dropped off at our hotel dock instead of repeating the van ride and drop off process.
So I have mixed feelings about this experience. When we talked with people at our hotel about our issues, they said that's why they did not use this company.
Nevertheless, despite any discomfort with either boat or benches or waiting around, It would be hard to have a really bad time in this beautiful location.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon at the end of May 2016, and were greeted by Hiro at the ferry port with everyone else. He made himself sound like the president of tourism and sold us on the fact that tours are much cheaper through him than at the hotels (which was true), so we signed up for both the ATV tour and Hiro's Snorkeling Tour. We later looked at the trip advisor reviews when we got to the hotel (Hilton Moorea - amazing) and got a little nervous because of all the negative feedback, so we went in with very low expectations. Needless to say it was a great and fun experience! They picked us up from the hotel on time in a nice air conditioned van and then Maco the guide was great! We saw dolphins, black tip sharks, and rays. The bbq lunch was great and then they dropped us off at our hotel dock. We would highly recommend this tour.

First, this tour was fantastic and I would highly recommend it.
But as a preface, my wife and I were corralled by Hiro at the Ferry in Tahiti before heading to Moorea. Hiro sort of makes himself out to be the "Head of Tourism" for Moorea. He seemed official and so we signed up for the shark and ray tour. When we got to Moorea our bus driver to the hotel starting saying how Hiro was a fraud and he hoped we didn't pay him money yet. Then we got to the hotel (Hilton - fantastic stay) and the concierge was very nervous when we told him we signed up and had already paid. Needless to say, we were sort of worried. The only consolation was that it was much less expensive then the hotel tour prices so worst case scenario we were only out like $100 or so.
The day arrived and the bus was on time. The boat was great, we saw dolphins, we swam with rays and sharks, the motu lunch was amazing, and the tour guide (Maco) was great, if a little crass. I would highly recommend this tour and even though there was some anxiety going in, it couldn't have been any better. Just great all around!

Hiro meets you at the ferry dock like he has some reason to be there as 'president of Moorea tourism' (bogus title) only to give you a hard sell. The boat was scummy. The sharks and rays were awesome but all companies see the same place. The lunch on the beach was a joke. We had awful food - extremely unsanitary, we were being swarmed by wild chickens and bugs. The snorkeling on the beach was inferior to any of the hotel lagoons while the boat help slipped off to the trees to smoke weed. Definitely a pass for anyone visiting. I wish we had gone with Miti tours....

Hiro my friend, Dan McDonald from CBH and USC like your Dad. We talked to you at the ferry dock march 2016. We brought friends with us. It was good to see you. We plan to return home to Moorea Sept 2019. Hope to see you and glad your business is doing well. You have always been great with us. You are special to us my friend. Sorry things did not work out well at CBH. Many disappointed time share owners. Give me your recommendation on Sunset Beach Condos. Nana!
