Beautiful!

This is the largest preserved area in Costa Rica. I haven't done much of the trails, but this obviously harbors many species that have never been identified.

It's quiet a big park and the landscape is impressive; but it's less accesible than other parks because there are only a few km of paths. It's worthwhile for the keen birders!

I drove through Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo on my way to Tortugero National Park. Braulio Carrillo is a cloud forest. You will definitely be at a high elavation but the views are great.

Braulio Carrillo is a rain forest with many trails to hike, if you time it right (or wait around) - you can have a guide take you through the trails and give you some very interesting explanations of the vegetation and critters that live in that environment, you can also take a self-guided tour with a map that they give... My first stop the two times I was on tour here. We did the rainforest tram. Our guide was excellent. What a warm-up for the beginning of our tour.

Easy drive from San Jose. Both rain forest and cloud forest with remarkable plant and animal life and stunning vistas. Bisected by major highway.

If you can get a guide to walk the 3 day route along the transect rail - go for it!
