Some ranger stations along the main road through the park, where hiking trails start; we would have expected more places where you can stop to look at the surroundings; meeting of two rivers under a bridge is fascinating. I don't think you need to plan an entire day for this park, the hiking trails weren't that different from trails in... More

Decided to pay a visit on the way back to San Jose from the Caribbean coast. Was very quiet so luckily didn't have to wait from the tram, was worth doing but very expensive for what it was. Cost $60 each. Tram lasted an hour then had a guided walk for an hour

Amazing experience, you really feel in contact with nature. Not the best NP in Costa Rica, but anyone will enjoy it!

Love birdwatching and breathing fresh air while enjoying the quietness of a wild rainforest? If you're visiting Costa Rica you can't miss this place. Expect to spend a full day walking on trails, getting wet by the occasional rain storm and have your camera ready to snap it at whatever comes your way. Yes, this is a rainforest and anything... I could not find many reviews on this park so we went in not really knowing what to expect. It was an absolutely beautiful drive up the mountain. The fee was $12.00 per person and worth every penny. There are two trails - one that is 600 km long and the other 1500 km. The longer trail leads to a... More

Braulio Carrillo is divided by the "Interstate" (Carretera 32). On the NorthWest side of 32 is the main entrance with the guard post. There are 2 small hikes there, each lasting about 30 minutes. On the SouthEast side of 32, there are 2 circuits. The first is a pretty easy 20-40 minute loop around with a beautiful lookout point, the... More

This is one of the most intact, extensive and extraordinary national parks in Costa Rica. With more than 44,000 hectares in extension (about 109,000 acres) it covers habitats from 40 meters above sea level to nearly 3,000 meters (~9,800 feet) in elevation. La Selva Biological Station (part of the Organization for Tropical Studies) is part of this vast preserve. Wildlife... More
