The Children Museum has a lot of fun areas where children experience important aspects of daily life such as shopping at the supermarket or how to recycle, as well as some cool chances of being a police officer or a fireman, washing bananas for export, trying on space outfits. It has many different sections and-although some exhibits have seen better... More

If you came to San Jose with kids younger than 10 this is a great option. Will learn about Costa Rica, dinosaurs, farm, profession, history among others. It's a half day plan but there is almost no place to eat and it's near nothing.

We have visited many children museums in US and Canada. This one is not the top of them all but it is worth a visit. My 8 years old loves the shopping area. She actually thinks what we have at home and chooses what we need to buy and think thrice to trade items for smaller size. I was impressed... More

I visited this museum as a solo almost-non-Spanish-speaking adult, but I was impressed nonetheless. As others have noted, it has a wild assortment of attractions. Every room seems to have a dedicated staff member whose job it is to host any visitor and guide them round that particular spot. Would have worked wonders for my children (had they spoken Spanish),... More

Great fun, great variety- much work in progress but still well worth a look at thei HUGE old prison building now housing all sorts of interesting stuff for kids, adults & art lovers with its small modern art exhibition. More labels in English & more English speaking & better informed facilitators would be god but with a smattering f Spanish... More

I had the opportunity to visit this museum during an art city tour, and I really liked it, it has different scenarios that keep you curious in what else you would be able to see.

This was one of the oddest places I've been in a long time. Long story short; as a museum, it's not great, especially if you don't speak Spanish. It's very much aimed at a Costa Rican audience, and it has definitely seen better days. A lot of the exhibits are threadbare and outdated; when we visited, large parts of the... More

I was quite disappointed as the displays are really outdated. There are no English sub titles so a parent cannot givetheir child an in depth dissertation unless Spanish is one's language. Too bad. Neat setting in a former prison!

This former prison has become a wonderful museum and despite its name, has many exhibitions that folks of all ages will enjoy. Went to an amazing photography exhibit several months ago.
