The Jade Museum and of precolumbian culture is positioned as an innovative state-of-the-art cultural proposal in the protection and conservation of archaeological heritage in Central America. Located in the center of Costa Rics's capital, the building was especially constructed to house the museum's collection, its architecture evoking a cut jade block. Its five levels exhibit objects crafted by artisans specialized in solving their daily subsistence needs, their spiritual and political world.

A must visit....5 floors of history of the use of jade and artifacts...jade from raw form to polished...stories that it tells from ancient times to present...history of shamans was also very interesting.

Though the museum was pretty interesting, I expected there to be more jade and less pottery. But overall it was still a pretty good museum. I liked that there were many interactive displays for children to play with.

This is one of the top museums of the country, in terms of the facilities and service, and the collections it houses. Do not miss it on a day tour of San José!

A lot of nice pieces of jade, if you are in San Jose is a must see, Monday is close, check the scheduale then you must visit.

Huge collection. Newly housed in purpose built museum. Some fascinating insights into this country's history/ incredible objects of great beauty. Cabinets full on the top floor- magical.

Yes you may. They have a very small souvenir shop. I found the prices to be a bit high, but that seems to be standard at museums.
