A small gem

If you like small museums or galleries this is a perfect choice. Not a richly varied collection but tasteful and interesting. The building itself and the upstairs mural beautiful.

This is a terrific art museum with both fixed and changing exhibits. It is in the former airport and the upper floor has a huge mural of the history of Costa Rica. There is a lot of large outdoor sculpture. The museum is at one end of Parque La Sabana and makes for a pleasant destination if you like walking... More

Originally the terminal of the old airport. Now a museum with some very interesting art and sculptures. Dramatic room that used to be the vip lounge which has a sculptured mural on all four walls...very impressive. Not a big display but worth a little bit of time.

This museum is awesome. the bas relief on the second floor is breathtaking. It depicts the history of Costa Rica from pre Columbian times to present. It is done in stucco painted with bronze paint A great take

This museum used to be the main airport. The wood panelling and staircase alone make this worth a look but the gold room upstairs is a fabulous frieze depicting the history of Costa Rica. If you are near the Sabana Park then do visit.

Our hotel was about seven blocks from the Gallery and wouldn't waste cab fare if you are staying downtown.

there is not that much to see but it is a nice little place. There is this one room in which you can see represented the history of Costa Rica.

I like this museum, which is built on the grounds of an old airport. It was small, and took less than an hour to walk through. Lots of interesting, somewhat random pieces it seemed. There's a nice outdoor area for sculptures. My favorite was probably the upstairs, carved room that used to be an airport lounge.

We stumbled across this museum while walking around Sabana Metro Park. Admission is free, the art is varied with sculpture and paintings, and the upstairs meeting room is not to be missed. The garden has beautiful bronze and stone sculpture. This museum is free for the people.

This is a great place to introduce yourself to the fantastic variety of CR art, not well-known outside the country. They have changing exhibits and an outdoor sculpture garden, all located in what used to be the airport terminal for San Jose. Be sure to go up to the second floor to see the incredible relief mural of San Jose... More
