Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

We did a 2 day rafting trip with Rio Tropicales and also spent the night in their lodge. It was myself, husband, and 17 year old daughter. We had a great time, and the scenery was gorgeous. They emphasized safety, and took care of everyone in the raft. It was Class 2-3 rapids on the first day and 3-4 on... More

I have rafted many rivers, but this was by far the most fun. The staff was responsible and they valued safety. Detailed and helpful safety instructions were provided before ever stepping foot in the river and we practiced all of the rafting commands before taking off. Roy was our guide and he was very fun and made our raft feel... More

Me and my buddy had an amazing time with this outfit. We did the Rio Pacuare, and man what an experience! Absolutely amazing! The rain forest was spectacular and the rapids were solid class III-IV. They have a really nice lodge where they served us breakfast and lunch, and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Fair warning however... More

This tour is a great value for the money spent. There's a place to shower and change out of wet clothes after the rafting tour. The breakfast and lunch served is very well done. I enjoyed the tour, the only disappointment were the rides were very long. I normally wouldn't mind, however I was tired, sore and holding mildly damp... More

We did the 3 and a half white-water rafting at the Pacuare river, with Rios Tropicales, and had a great time. The rafting itself was excellent, beautiful views. Our guide - Ray - was very professional. The service was very good - transportation, breakfast and lunch, facilities - everything worked perfectly. We warmly recommend Rios Tropicales!

The company and guide did a great job. We were picked up at hotel in San Jose at 6am (they confirmed the night before) and drove 2 hours to the post where we had breakfast. The food was yummy, we changed clothes and then went on a 1 hour drive to the river. needless to say the drive was good... More

Great staff. Guides were fun, informative, and kept everyone safe. Ronaldo (AKA Ray) and Kevin were especially great. Beautiful river. Good equipment. Breakfast at the office was very good. Lunch on the river was a blast. Just a great day.

This was my third white water rafting trip and it was definitely the best value I've ever gotten! It started with an early morning (5:10am) where we were picked up at our Hotel in San Jose. Transported to the rafting location (which was hours away) and fed breakfast and then went off to raft. The trip lasted a LONG time... More

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us, I hope you can return to the Pacuare during our rainy season , it gets to be pretty solid Class IV in many places, still family friendly , but you have to paddle hard, and maybe miss some of the hanging vines around. Thanks More
