We recently visited Biesanz Woodworks while on vacation with our 7 and 9 year olds. We learned not only about the woodworking but also the gardens (beautiful) and local wildlife. Even our little kids were impressed. The shop itself is filled with gorgeous pieces. I wish we could have bought one of everything!

We were extremely impressed with the variety of such beautiful woods used along with the amazing fine detail work. The collection of jewelry boxes, bowls, nested chest boxes, etc., are the work of an extremely fine craftsmen. Barry Biesanz took his time to give us the tour of his workshop, answer many questions, and share in several tips he developed... More

My husband had toured the facility once without me and bought me the most beautiful jewelry box I have ever seen. We toured with Minor just last February and I fell in love. The love, patience, and craftsmanship are beyond comparison. I bought lots of gifts and then when I got home I bought some more and they shipped to... More

I went to see the Biesanz Woodworks today that was recommended by m B & B Casa Lurin owner Ginette. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my lifetime of travels. The friendly, educator who showed us around took his time explaining everything that entails this wonderful farm of flora and fauna. I fall in love with Costa... More

All the workmanship is superior and a fine example of what can be produced in Costa Rica. Everything they make is museum quality. I purchased a bowl there to take as a gift to an artist friend in India. The receiver was delighted with the delicate workmanship and beauty of the finish. But the biggest plus in visiting the shop... More

Stopped here with my mom the day before I left Costa Rica and it was an amazing experience to end my trip with! We arrived and Minor immediately welcomed us into the shop and gave us an insightful, in depth tour of the garden, workshop, and explained how Barry sculpts his wood creations. The whole tour was very engaging and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the wood working shop with Minor, a very personable guide. The quality of the wood work is amazing; no cheap crap here! You will have a peaceful, no pressure shopping experience. As a bonus, you will also meet Negro, a lovely three-legged rescue dog.

We were charmed by the beautiful hillside wood working center for Barry Biesanz's masterful wood creations. Our tour guide, Minor, shared his passion and vision with generous detail and examples. We learned much about indigenous trees, the time and detail that goes into making each precious bowl, or wooden object, the various hard woods, including gorgeous rosewood. Lovely opportunity to...
