A great beach with tall palms, white sands, and crashing waves. Off the beaten track, this is where the locals go (and the occasional tourist). You can drive right down, park on the beach and tailgate right from your car. Pura vida!

My hostel arranged a surf lesson with Alex/Marco and it took place here. This beach is much more quiet, no restaurants or amenities but it is a short walk from the busier part of the beach for these things. Saw monkeys next to the beach and the surf lesson was great. Almond and coconut trees on this beach made it... More

This is a pretty beach with nice white sand. It was good for beginning surfing and body surfing when we were there. There is some shade, but like every beach in Costa Rica, you need to have someone there to watch your stuff. Don't just leave it on the beach while you swim. Ditto for the car, don't leave anything... More

Fewer people head down to the far end of Playita so it is lovely to not be so crowded - less touristy. Great wave action with the large rock formation and shade can be found. Beautiful here first thing in the morning.

Playita is a great beach if you are looking for surf lessons. Marco gave lessons to two novice adult surfers in our group and they both had a great time. Beautiful relaxed beach away from the crowds with more surf than most in the area.

At low tide, a very beautiful isolated beach, easy access over the rocks and lots of shady places to spend the day and chill. Used to be clothing optional, but that has since changed due to the location of the beach hotel, which has altered the ambiance of previous years! Still a stellar beach , with good swimming locations away... More

We found this beach on recommendation of our waiter at the Issimo Suites. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. and found only 3 other people on the beach at this time!! It was like our own private beach!! The sand was nice and the area was clean. Very quiet and relaxing. You can drive your car right onto the beach if... More

While looking for a restaurant on our shoddy GPS on our costa rican honeymoon, we were taken down the dusty downhill road to this beach by mistake. (Warning: you definitely definitely need a 4WD vehicle to scale the hill). It was sunset so we stayed. One of the best evenings we had; park right on the beach and stroll the... More

This area is a 10 minute stroll down the beach but usually less crowded and a great surfing spot. Not many restaurants all the way down so bring some food and drinks.
