Your go to guide if you are targeting BIG Pacific snook.

Roy did an outstanding job og putting us on snook. I resonally caught a 43 inch snook that we cooked later that evening. One of the best tasting fish I have ever had.

Capt Roy had me on Roosterfish the whole trip. We caught super live bait and using light tackle I caught 9 Roosterfish and some long skinny fish. The roosterfish fight and zing the drag and bend the pole. Not sure why some previous commenters were so negative, it is easy to know the size boat he had beforehand, you could... More

Its not your luxury fishing trip, his boat is simple, no roof and and can not pull a huge fish, but you get the thrills of fishing with a local fishermen for a very reasonable price. We went twice and took advantage of fishing, whale watching, mangrove toor and dolphin chasing all in one. Roy is flexible about using the... More

Long story short...Roy might be a decent commercial fisherman in his own boat, but he's no fishing guide for paying clients in a safe boat. After having gone on many adventures all over the world, this was one of the worst and unsafest experiences ever. Two of us live here in Costa Rica and 2 friends were visiting from the... More

We Had good time with Roy today. Low tide had boat stuck in the channel when we arrived. We helped Roy get the boat unstuck and off to catch bait and start fishing. We caught 3 nice snook in the 10-15lb range, 3 Small jacks (but they fight hard) and 3 saltwater catfish. Had several other runs that we did not... More

We have fished with Rudy Zapata 3 different years since 2010 and usually at least 3 times while we are there. We really love the Zapata brothers fishing, very reasonable and know how to catch the fish. When you fish with Rudy you never know what boat you will get. Sometimes you get Roy's boat and other times other boats.... More

Capt Roy and his mate Rudy (brother) are phenomenal, two local guys who have grown up here with a family that goes back generations in fishing the area. Nothing fancy here, boat is about 25' long, no cover from the sun so wear your sunscreen. Fished with them twice so far and going out again this week. Lots of fruit,... More
