There was so much to see and do (and taste) on this marvelous tour. Marcos (who spoke English) was an amazing tour guide--knowledgeable and passionate about the plants and animals of the area. He quickly figured out our interests in the plants and took us to some additional places after the tour to show us new flora. The tour was... More

The Raices family was very fun and friendly and it was really cool to see how they farm and make chocolate and a variety of other crops. This is definitely worth a stop though! We even saw squirrel monkeys playing in the trees 10 feet away.

The tour begins at the family home. The home is surrounded by lush vegetation native to the area. The tour was led by the owner, German, with Vanessa assisting as translator. He shared his extensive knowledge of and love for the different plants and trees on their vast farm. We were able to sit down to a savory lunch that... More

This is my second trip to the ranch. Owner (German) was very happy to see repeated visitor and he took as around himself. White pineapples - taste better than regular ones. Home made chocolate - need some sugar (joke). This time we met his entire family and it was good experience.

Very interesting tour. This was a diverse farm to show you many different things to grow in the area. The white pineapple was amazing!

This was amazing. 14 of us went together, German the father and his English speaking daughter Veronica showed us around the entire property, explained the different plants and their uses. When we arrived at the little ranch, they had fresh chocolate milk for us, little snacks and a chocolate scrub. We got to make little chocolates and purchase their delicious,... More

My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon in Costa Rica and were fortunate enough to visit Rancho Raices for the tour of a lifetime. As guests of Crocodile Bay Resort, they arranged our own guide (Diego) for translation purposes and for the short 15-minute drive to and from the resort. From the moment we arrived and were greeted... More

Very interesting tour. We saw and experienced every step of the making of real chocolate. The meal was outstanding : so fresh and so good, from the pina blanca to the mandarina juice, the gallo pinto and of course the piece of their fabulous chocolate. Thanks to Vanessa and German!

We have visited this area many times and JUST discovered Rancho Raices - a very special place right off the main road. The farm owners are very welcoming and very informative on this guided tour. There is so much to learn about indigenous people and the medicinal uses of trees and plants. All sorts of delicious fruits (samples provided!), vegetables... More
