We had a morning bird-watching trip with an excellent guide, Oscar C. at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. We all came with binoculars and Oscar found many birds in his spotting scope as well. As experienced bird-watchers, we knew that nothing is guaranteed, but Oscar...More

We were staying at the nearby UGA San Luis Ecolodge and booked a morning tour here. We are lifelong birds and this was some of the best that we have ever seen. Quetzals, toucanets, tanagers, chlorospingas, bananaquits, and more hummingbirds than I ever thought I...More

I live in Monteverde and come here every few months. To get there i would recommend driving or taking the public bus because it's a bit far from most other things. Once you arrive there is a ticket office, gift shop, cafeteria and bathrooms so...More

Loved my visit here. We got the guided tour (and since just my friend and I had signed up through our hotel, it was like a private tour), which was great since I would've probably missed everything our guide pointed out. He so wanted us...More

We saw the stunning Quetzal bird, so hard to spot but the bird tours are amazing at finding all the most illusive animals. Sights and smells, cloud air and primeval forest, suspension bridge and moist ground, all make it so worthwhile, not busy even at...More

The forest is peaceful with many bird noises. Don't expect to see mammals except in the early morning as most are nocturnal. We were fortunate enough to have a very savvy guide (Dennis) who helped us see a Quetzal and some other rare birds. Also...More

We completed the 11 line zip-wire course and the canopy walk, for different reasons both were amazing. Our youngest is 9 and did the zip-lines alone., he even managed the Tarzan swing at the end. The 1km last line is simply amazing. The canopy walk...More

Very nice hike, we walked all day in the park but we didn't see much wildlife. Maybe that a guide would be good if you are looking for wildlife, however we did see the quetzal :-)

We hired an excellent guide and that made all of the difference in the world . I would not recommend going in and winging it as the untrained eye will surely miss 80% of what there is to see.

Our guide was Jesus (pronounced hazeus) from Alexander Mata tour company. His commitment to his job is amazing, the information he had was amazing. The rainforest itself is paradise. The bird life is abundant. The guides work together to ensure each others guesrs get to...More

Do you remember what tour you booked? I don't need an "adventure" and only brought my Skechers to wear. What do you recommend. Am also a healthy and agile 70 year old. Thank you...........Sonya

It was the night tour directly through the center. Felix was our guide, but I'm sure there are many guides that are used. I would say that it is not a very challenging hike, and you should be fine in your shoes (apart from... More

Greetings! Do self-guided hikes require a reservation, or can you simply arrive and purchase admission? Planning to visit Thursday, April 27th. Thanks!

You are coming during high tourist season and that means crowds. So, if you want to go on your own there's no problem with that but keep in mind that if you do not arrive within the first 100 visitors you may have to stay... More

The only hanging bridge at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve is on El Camino Trail and it is only about 10 minutes away from the entrance if you do not stop at all. It is the widest trail, (an old road built... More
