We read the critical (poor) reviews and still chose to go as they were in the minority but comments about having a guide forced upon you and then wishing you had gone solo not only to save USD20 per head but also to be impressed...More

As a solo traveller, I tried to join a group birdwatching tour in advanced and on the day, which was impossible unless I paid for 2 people. I have been to Manuel Antonio and Boquete nature reserves both were more interesting for different reasons, this...More

If you visit Costa Rica you have to visit Monteverde cloud forest. The forest is amazing, a beautiful place completely different from the other forests in Costa Rica. If you have a guided tour ask for Juan Carlos. He was our guide and was superb....More

Welcome (and cheaper) alternative to the full of adrenaline Monteverde zipline spots. We had a beautfiful, relaxed walk in the forest including a very nice hanging bridge high in the trees. And we were almost alone ...

We strolled in without a guide, mid morning, wasn't crowded at all given this is Aug, also we were lucky that the weather was perfect, a bit of mist, no rain, just a bit of sun, we didn't see any monkeys, we did come across...More

This is a wonderful place to walk around and get real sense of the cloud forest. Well pathed trails and easy to navigate. I do feel it is expensive though and wonder if having made the trip up to Monteverde that the majority of people...More

We opted to not use a guide to visit the forest. We probably could have seen more wildlife, but seeing it through a scope doesn't appeal to us. We walked all the trails which took 5 hours, but broken in 2 around lunch time to...More

Excellent Cloud Forest; primary and secondary. Elvin was a very knowledgeable and passionate guide, who knows almost all animals and plants in Dutch. Fantastic kolibri visit center just around the corner.
