Perfect place to surf, tan and have a good time. A bit big waves sometimes, so stay aware. :-) Lots of people near by provide surfing lessons - totally worth it

Not so beautiful beach, the nature is amazing but the beach and the ocean are toatlly different from the pictures. There are more nice things to do in Puerto Viejo than staying all day long at the beach.

Nice clean beach when I visited. Sea seemed quite calm with a few families swimming. Nice walk along the beach.

The beach by itself is average, not so clean, small sand area... But it's still beautiful! The city is cool to chill and see some rastafari lifestyle!

This town has a great mix of everything that you would expect from the perfect Caribbean experience. You will see guys who look like they have been on the hippy trail since Woodstock and bright young people wanting to study the environment. There are quality shops offering a range of products at differing levels of quality and price. A beach... More

This was one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen anywhere! It looks just like a beach should look. There is nothing but sand and palm trees. The large hotels that are present on many beaches in the USA were absent. You could feel so isolated and at peace there. It is definitely a beach I'd enjoy returning to.

I spent my birthday weekend at a home away close to the beach. I rode the shuttle down from San Jose, 5 hours of near death experience. The driver was ridiculous 70 miles an hour in the rain, cliff on side, mountains on the other. But once I got there I was not disappointed. The beaches were nostalgic from when... More
