The work being done by the folks at Jaguar Foundation is fabulous! I felt honored to have a tour of their wonderful facility. And the tour was so much more than a walk through--we got to get a feel for the personality of the facility. A cancerous pelican and a lovely little aardvark roaming about freely, a group of rogue... This is absolutely worth the trip to the east coast of Costa Rica for. If you want to see sloths, wild cats, crocodiles, tons of monkeys and every other animal Cost Rica has to offer them you have to go! They fed baby sloths right in front of us, and sloths were hanging from the branches of trees as you... More

This place is amazing! You must visit if you're in the area! We did the 9:30 tour and it wasn't too crowded. The baby sloth are the sweetest animals you'll ever see!!

we had a great time with the guided tour and we saw monkey's, sloths tucans and so many more animals and it was very interesting to hear the story's behind the animals like how they got there. if you are looking for a activity for a couple of hours, this is a great place to visit with family and friends.... Amazing place! There were no Jaguars there when we went, which is a GOOD thing ( means that none needed rescuing at this time ). Staff are very knowledgable about the animals and the area. Staff are also mostly volunteers and work incredibly hard to do what needs to be done for successful release back into the wild. It was... More

Paid extra for the private tour. Recommend you do so. Great mission, I got to see all of the sloths, and had a monkey play on my head. Such a knowledgable guide. We took a taxi there. Be aware that there is no taxi nearby. Have a phone and a number as we left as they closed and without my... More

Wow! I was lucky enough to be able to visit the center on my fourth trip to Puerto Viejo, and it is one of my favorite places I've seen in Costa Rica. The tours are detailed and long, about two hours. Seeing all the sweet animals and knowing this group of dedicated folks is working all the time to care... More

A family of 6 visited the center. Extremely dedicated volunteers led tours through the center explaining the animals all native to the area. Very informative and a great detour through the area. Tours were offered in groups of 15 or so and based on language. Spanish, English or French. The folks running the center are the heart and soul of... More

I've heard that some sanctuaries capture animal and pretend to be rescue centers. But I have no doubt that this center is for real. Volunteers love what they do and have great stories. This place should be on top of your to do list!

The JRC was originally am after thought for my wife and I. We opened in going to the Sloth sanctuary just in the other side of Cahuita. Boy were we WRONG! The JRC is hands down way better than the sloth sanctuary (sorry guys!), Mainly due to its knowledgeable, approachable and talkative staff! The animals you see are all undergoing... More
