I visited this center on a Gray Line one day excursion in July 2018. It took about 2 hours to reach it from my airport hotel driving through some spectacular scenery. On arrival i was offered a choice of two of four activities; a board walk through the forest, an ox cart ride, horse riding or a kayak on the river. I chose the walk and the kayak. The walk was easy as there is a raised boardwalk through the forest. i saw the Ceibas trees after which the center is named, howler monkeys, toucans, and a cayman, though the most remarkable sight was a brightly painted, old, bus driving along a track in the forest. The second activity was a two mile kayak trip on the river through the forest. This was amazingly peaceful and a bit scary as we went over the "rapids". I managed not to fall in though i did end up sitting in a pool of water. I was accompanied on both activities by a guide, Manuel (?) who did a n excellent howler monkey impression. Lunch was included in the trip and was very good. I thoroughly enjoyed this trip and i would love to return to try the riding option. I think the ox cart might suit a more sedate visitor.

This is one of the best experiences in Costa Rica! The bus service is quick and the driver is very kind! From San Jose, the ride was about two hours and fairly bumpy but our driver handled the roads expertly! We participated in the boardwalk and kayaking while we were there. The boardwalk is about a mile through extremely lush forest and is a great introduction to the local rainforest. We were even provided with a helpful booklet with common flora and fauna. On our walk we found many interesting insects, birds, lizards, and plants! Our guide, Jack, was very knowledgeable and showed a clear passion for his work! He was patient and made the entire experience very fun! After our walk we were provided with a beautiful lunch that was made there in the lodge. The kayaking was fairly easy and could be accomplished by beginners. The entire course is quite long and takes a little over two hours to complete. A change of clothing is highly recommended as kayaking and the afternoon rains can be quite wet. For the price, this is an exceptional experience we would recommend to anyone.

The ride is a very long one from San Jose, about 2.5 hrs but don’t let that detour you. The only complaint I have was from Gray Line Tours who didn’t tell us there were showers and to bring flip flops, etc. Our driver was very nice but was not bilingual and that made it a quiet ride. Those are the only issues, but that wouldn’t affect my rating of Cinco Ceibas and their staff.

First, our guide Issac was the absolute best. He took special attention to us and wanted to accommodate any special requests if we had any. We chose horseback riding and kayaking. He had everything ready to go when we arrived.

We went horseback riding for an hour, came back and had a custom lunch, grilled tilapia, rice and veggies. This was an amazing lunch. We then kayaked down the river for 2 hrs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We saw so many different species of animals! 2 types of monkeys, blue macaws, a huge iguana, fish, lizards and so many birds! Isaac was beyond knowledgeable of all the local animals and vegetation. An amazing host!

This was something we booked once we arrived in San Jose. I’m so glad we did as this was an incredible experience. It’s an eco-lodge where everything is local and sustainable.

Hi, my name is David, this tour was definitely an experience to remember, it was so much fun! I couldn't say enough about the staff, they were super kind! Our tour guide, Isaac Guerrero really took the time to let you explore and made it feel like it was your time rather than pushing your through.

My mother, sister, and I all enjoyed the range of activities they offered; First we ventured off on a walking tour through the rainforest were we encountered numerous wildlife including different species of monkey, lizards and butterflies, also bullet ants and Armadillo holes. Secondly, we rode through the forest on horseback while it spontaneously started raining (warm rain), I would recommend this for the trill seekers! Finally, we kayaked along the river within the property and stopped off at a jump in spot were we could swing off a rope swing. In this part of the tour we saw more of the large trees and forest life that would otherwise be hiding amongst the foliage.

Overall, a must see location of Costa Rica!

I was only in Costa Rica for day, but I managed to find my way to Cinco Ceibas for some rainforest adventures. I was so impressed by the staff, Issac, Blanca, and Rolando. They are warm and inviting, and their energy and excitement was contagious. My friend and I went on the rainforest boardwalk, and saw howler and spider monkeys, a red frog, and a couple of bright green lizards. On the way out of the rainforest area, we saw a couple of toucans flying about. We also did the kayak adventure in the river, which was amazing! The river gently pushes you and you are immersed in the scenery and sounds of birds, monkeys and iguanas rustling the leaves on the riverbanks. All in all, we had a fabulous time, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and were guided by people who truly love where they live. Thanks for everything!

Cinco Ceibas is an old abandoned pineapple farm that has been replanted. The surrounding old growth rainforest preserves 100 to 500 year old Ceiba trees that are amazing to see. The easy mile-long trail has a nice interpretive booklet to follow so you can walk at your own pace. If you are experienced with a kayak, I highly recommend the kayak tour - the river is beautiful, but unpredictable. It was a pleasant day, and next time I plan to stay over night as the lodge and restaurant are very nice.

We went from San Jose and although it was about a 3 hour journey it was well worth travelling to see the more of the country. The complex itself is lovely, and the staff - especially Isaac - were fantastic.
We did the horse riding and then the kayaking. The riding was great fun and not very demanding, so it would be good for all levels. The kayaking had a few more rapids than i'd anticipated but that just made for more fun - especially when i capsized! But the river was very warm.
We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to anyone. Especially huge thanks to Isaac who kept Aine dry! :-)

We took a day trip from San Juan early in the morning. The ride was about two and a half hour and last 40-45 minutes was on an unpaved road. Although it was a little hassle to get there, it was an excellent and breathtaking experience. As soon as we arrived, our guide Isaac took us to lockers to change for kayak trip, which was one of the 3 options we could chose for our tour. After a quick safety and orientation briefing we jumped onto kayaks and paddle down the river. It was something to be experienced. We have seen monkeys, iguanas, bats and many beautiful birds. The scene was serene and paddling is really easy. Isaac was a great guide and took care of everything, including pointing out all the wide life that probably we would not be able to see. After 1.5 hour of kayak trip we went back to the park and took a refreshing shower and cleaned up. Everything, including towels were provided. But, I should mention that I had to shower with lukewarm water. We moved on to the lodge to have a delicious lunch and some refreshing drinks. We liked the lunch but there was not a lot of options. Nevertheless, it was satisfying. After the lunch and a cup of coffee we headed to the boardwalk. As soon as we arrived there, we have seen a large family of coatis. Isaac guided us through 1 hour boardwalk hike and once again pointed out various wild life such as monkeys, insects and frogs. We saw leaf cutter ants and bullet ants. There were so many different and interesting plants so that we really felt that we were ages away from the civilization. It was a great day trip from San Jose and Isaac was an excellent guide. We definitely recommend Cinco Ceibas to any one who would like to discover wild side of Costa Rica. As a side note, we saw a few toucans on the way back and took lots of pictures.. Do not forget to bring your camera, binoculars and some good hiking shoes. It is also a good idea to bring a poncho or some rain gear since this part of CR is usually rainy, at least in the afternoon.
