If you are looking for that long walk on a pristine beach, where you may encounter only a few people, this is the place!. At low tide, walk across the small river onto the beach and from there you have a few kilometres of beautiful beach and pounding surf. You are occasionally treated to Macaws or shore birds. Warning: surfing only at this beach, swimming is dangerous due to the rips. The beach is about a 30 minute walk from downtown.

We walked there on the road. Went by Samara Parasio Lodge and stopped to take a look at it on the way. Everyone we asked was very helpful to direct us to the path that takes you on some uphill and downhill and leads to some nice vistas. You end at the beach going down a set of stairs that are typical Costa Rica- not perfect, uneven, some crumbling and no handrail, but that makes it all the more of an adventure. Beautiful rugged beach. We sat in some of the tidal pools as the tide as high. It was probably a 45 minute walk, with stops for look outs. Need to be in adequate shape to walk there.

Just a beautiful spot !! Magical at sunset! We took a trail ride and ended up on this beach at sunset. Made for the best trail ride! I also hear it is a good beach for catching a few waves!

Quiet and close to Samara, found many nice agates. Not really a beach for swimming but pretty and no crowd.

Took a horseback ride to this gorgeous beach. There is a turtle refuge there. Would be a great place for sunset picnic

Playa Buena Vista was beautiful and secluded. The waters are rougher than those of Playa Carrillo or Samara but the beach is isolated and peaceful.

Just to ensure you don't stumble here by accident, or at high tide, this is super place to visit.
it is likely to be empty, there is shade and tables to the north, where you can drive in, and to the south towards Samara, there may be mythical crocs, but the beach is wide and the waves friendly, and at low tide there is great tumble about fun to be had in the shallows. Rocks to clamber, and a view of (or walk to) to next door Barrigona.
Bring water, fruit and nibbles and enjoy, but just don't all come at once.

This beach does not live up to its name. What a dissapointment. We took the Quad down to this beach to watch the sunset as some people had suggested. You get to the beach and you have to walk around or through this swampy river like body of water before you get to the sandy beach. Since it was likely high tide, there was a sliver of beach left and the horse tour was walking through the distance as the sun was setting, so I did get a pretty cool picture but not the "good view" that the name suggests.

Of course, there are so many beautiful beaches nearby, it is easy to become a beach snob in the Play Samara area. Wasn't a horrible beach, just not nearly as nice as Barrigona, Carillo or even Samara.

I walked to this beach from playa samara along the coast at low tide. Barely anyone is here despite the nearly mile long beach. It's beautiful and great and you only have to cross one river with crocodiles to get to it!

A long, dark sand beach. We spent the morning walking along the shore, hunting for shells. At low tide you can walk north to Playa Barrigona. Just make sure you come back before the tide rises, or it will be a long walk back along the road!
