Big beach with white sand which is unusual for the area. Big and spacious with nature reserve and lagoon at far end. Lots of shells as the name implies. Need to be careful of rip tides. Lots of vendors selling massages ($20 per hour), kayak/paddleboard/jet...More

This was a pretty fun day. If you plan on going and are not staying at the Westin, the best way to get there us to drive to the main square in Brasilito and you'll find the road to drive to the parking- you will...More

We stayed at the Westin for the week and ventured out to the beach a few times. It can be quite crowded. The are many vendors who will approach you but are respectful and do not push past a simple "no thank you." See if...More

The sand is made of entirely seashells, so terrain can be a little rough on the feet. However, it's unique and lovely. It's a very laid back "tico" feel with stray dogs, hammocks, and driftwood. Keep in mind that if you're expecting a pristine beach...More

Good place but not the best! Weird access by an horrible beach Brazilitto or by driving on the beach . Really scary at high tide. Not really necessary. Pass your way to Tamarindo.

Very attractive beach in front of our hotel-lost a star as not the best for swimming/snorkleing due to currents and poor visibility underwater

It was a very beautiful beach....partly, soft & sandy, partly, full of shells! It's clean and not too crowded. The friendly locals that try to sell hand crafted items are very respectful & they give you privacy if you say no only once! no one...More

Beautiful beach in morning when the tide is low after 3 or so the water isn't as clear. The beach is a bit rocky but manageable.

Beautiful beach. Low tide in the morning is the best time to have kids snorkel on beach. High tide in the late afternoon has an amazing sunset. Beach is amazing. Sunset is breathtaking.

As good as the snorkeling off one of the catamarans honestly (although without the beautiful boat and service). There are large shade umbrellas and chairs for rent. Nice place to spend the day. Hardly any surf so safe place for little ones to swim too.

If you want to take the "Monkey Road" which is a short-cut to Playa Protrero and south to Conchal, it is a dusty, gravel road OK for 2 WD. If you go slow it will be fine. It is a popular road due to the time saved but it... More

Have to qualify about the Monkey Trail. We drove this frequently but only in the dry season. In the rainy season, you could encounter slides, washouts and unstable terrain. I don't recommend this dirt road in the rainy... More

I found booking with any hotel or tourist office adds an extra, per person, 20 to 40 dollars to the cost of what can be arranged in person on location or via one of the beach venders.
