This was a last minute add to our itinerary in Costa Rica. We did have a challenge finding the caves because there are no signs. But the locals in the town Venado were very happy to help us. We were the only ones on our...More

This was a great experience- the guest was wonderful and provided a personalized experience. Our group was only three people including my husband and I! And our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Most of this Caving experience is pretty mellow once you get the...More

This was quite difficult to find. It is a few minutes away from the town of Venado and we opted to try a shortcut and not use the main highway. (Side roads are a mistake due to very poor road conditions) Once at Venado Caves,...More

We drove to the caves from Tiliran on lake Arenal-- took us about 90 minutes but was so worth it. Our guide Henry was great - knowledgeable, patient with our limited Spanish, and attentive to our abilities. The caves were spectacular- we kept saying we'd...More

We had someone come and pick us up from our hotel, and drop us off after visiting the caves. They provided a little melon snack with water after the tour. It was a good price, and got the professional photos taken and a CD with...More

We had a great time doing this! We have caves where we are but you can't touch anything and it's all concrete walkways. This was completely different. I love crawling through the water and climbing in the caves. Highly recommend this but definitely take a...More

Venado caverns are a fun and exciting distraction from hiking the Costa Rican rainforest surrounding the Arenal volcano. Of course you are going to get wet and you can't be too squeamish about tight spaces. One of the highlights of my entire trip was getting...More

We were traveling Costa Rica during the slow season and stumbled across the Venado caves, which turned out to be one of the cheapest attractions, as well as the most rewarding! Wear old clothes, and bring an extra set to change into afterwards. They have...More

This is one of the best decisions we made……drove 2 hours to check the caves out and it was the best time and money spent!! We also paid extra for the photo CD which our camera could never capture the images they got and happy...More

My husband and I toured this cave 3 years, and since then we have traveled to many caves throughout the world, and both agreed this cave is our favorite! (Keeping in mind that my husband is a trooper and does not enjoy tight spaces!) So...More

Is their an alternate route for a person who is tall and on the wider larger side but in good health?? I don't want him to miss out on the caves at all. hes looking forward to the caves but after looking at the pictures some spots look tight?? is their like a main trail where you can still experience the caves in all their glory just not climb through??????

I am unsure if there is an alternative route through the cave :( The birth canal was definitely the tightest spot, but there were definitely other parts when you had to crawl on your hands and knees through shallow water... More

Hi! My fiancé and I will be going to Costa Rica in 3 1/2 weeks for our Honeymoon. We will be staying at Volcano lodge and Springs approx. 50 mins away. Do any of you know if there are any forms of transportation in that rural area? Thanks!

Hi, My husband and I are planning on a trip to Costa Rica and read your review. Is this appropriate or doable for someone who is overweight? Is it very strenuous? Thanks, Liz

There's a passage called the birth canal that he probably won't fit through. I'm 190 and barely made it. Doesn't matter, there's an alternate route your guide will take you on.
