Came here for a hike, and really enjoyed it; however we could not find the trail we were looking for, never saw a sign for it. But instead we hiked the road up to the waterfall viewpoint, and then on the way down we hiked a few easier trails near the river. Beautiful park, and some great bird watching.

This was my second visit to Tapanti and I enjoyed it even more than I had the first time many years ago. The forest is beautiful and full of birds (early morning or late afternoon). The trail we walked was beside the river and it is well maintained and quite scenic. Picnic-type summer houses are available for families all along... More

be sure you understand from the park ranger which trail is difficult and which two are relatively easy. park is worth a visit for both trails (depending on who you are with and their ability to handle easy or hard levels of difficulty)

Tapanti is a beautiful park! I would highly recommend taking the time to do a day trip and hike all the trails. There are only four, but they are simply beautiful. The waterfall hike is just unreal, as it follows the river and meanders through rainforest.

This park was described as a "picnic park" by our host, and in the tradition of trusting the locals, we almost skipped it. In the end, we were glad we didn't... While it is indeed set up for picnicking (lots of sites with roof and tables, short trails) and we weren't lucky enough to see much in terms of wild... More

We arrived at Tapanti just before 8am and did all the trails. - took us till 2pm (we had no car so walked the entire 4km up the road and another 4 back as well). There's a road that runs through the park and the trails go off that. The Oropendola trail that goes down to the river is lovely,... More

Following our exploring the Orosi Valley ( central valley) AREA of costa rica, we explored Tapanti National park for almost an entire day--A FULL DAY OF CONSTANT RAIN. Trails were steep and sometimes slippery as we made our intended way to one of the park's longest and highest waterfalls from the numerous rivers emptying into the park's areas. It was extremely... Stayed in the Orosi Valley for 2 nights and had no trouble driving out to Tapanti National Park. It was 10$ a person to go hiking, but we got our money's worth. Only 20 minutes from the Orosi Valley. A nice alternative to driving an hour to Irazu to hike.

Park gets the most rainfall of any national park in Costa Rica. Park was amazingly green and verdant and oh so humid. Plants were amazing. Heard many birds but didn't see many. Saw a 100 foot waterfall. Saw many epiphytes. Moss and ferns clung to every tree. Need to hike high into the park to see the big animals and... More

Beautiful park, very secluded. Just be prepared for rains, since someone told us its one of the rainiest areas in all of Costa Rica. There are several picnic tables and potable water to drink as well. THe river is beautiful
