When we first arrived a tour bus in front of us turned around because they thought there would be too many clouds around to even get to see the opening. We decided to go in anyway and we were glad we did. There were times when there would be clouds in the way, but in two minutes, it would clear... More

Paid a trip to Poas Volcano during my Costa Rica trip. It wasn't very promising with the weather being terrible and clouds covering the volcano from the look out but thought I'd try my luck anyway..then suddenly it all cleared up and in front of my eyes I witnessed the most fascinating volcano, in the most beautiful colour! Well worth... More

The view of the volcano crater is incredible!!! Never saw anything like this before. Important to check in advance the visibility, using local web cam or in the hotel You have few options for hiking, starting from 15 minutes to the crater view to more than an hour, including the lake. The rain forest is beautiful with the birds and... More

If you get here early, you will usually be able to see the crater and sulfur lake. The tours that stop for coffee on the way usually end up getting here too late to see it. It was an easy walk up to the volcano and the view of it is spectacular.

Just an amazing place, surrounded by splendid nature. It is about THE picture of Costa Rica. But the rainforrest is also more than worth to visit; a real pearl for plants, flowers, birds, insects, fish.... As I love nature very much and I have been in several tropical places(amazone Manaus, Pantanal and Bonito Brazil, Forrest Sumatra, Forrest Maleisia, Cuba, South... More

Our guide was very informative about the volcano & birds! Weather was poor so we could not see anything over the crater rim, not something that is controllable. Views on the drive up the volcano are spectacular of Central Valley.

This is one the most famous places to visit in Costa Rica, located near the capital area, is a great choice for a day tour, the main crater view is just priceless, you must be very lucky since wind and weather conditions may change in minutes, get there the earliest you can to see the active crater clear! The access... More

I came here with my friend when I was recently in Costa Rica. He had a meeting in San Pedro de Poas and we came here afterwards. When we climbed up to the spot to view the volcano, we couldn't see due to the clouds. After two minutes it cleared and we were able to see the crater. My advice... More

First it was totally cloudy and we didn't see the path in front of us. But then wind wiped the fog away. This beauty of landscape is a must-see.

We came on a good day and saw spectacular views of the crater and lake the whole time we were there about 30 mins. We didn't walk the trails or visit the visitor centre as we were on a tight schedule, but it seems like we missed out! I think if I came back again I would spend more time... More
