This place is amazing. I'm not sure I'd really consider this a zoo since the animals are contained in a real rain forest setting. For the short time we spent there, we saw a crocodile, monkeys, mountain lions, and many birds. There were also peacocks...More

This is like no other zoo I've ever been too. It is a preservation of animals indigenous to Costa Rica. There are large iguanas and peacocks roaming freely around the entire grounds. There are several birds, turtle and monkey exhibits with a couple large cat...More

The zoo exibits local fauna, mainly birds, but also care for several mammals and reptiles. It works also as a rescue center for illegal traded animals.

This is a very humble place to visit. Nice place to spend a few hours to look at some very beautiful birds.

This was the 2nd time we visited. My main complaint is the price differential for Tourists vs. Local. This is common--charging tourists way more. Anyway on this visit I was surprised to see more animals that were not rescues, though I do believe part of...More

Beautiful park- I was blown away by both the plant and animal life. The zoo, while entertaining, is also educational: along the paths are signs explaining which species are endangered and/or about current conservation efforts. I highly recommend Zoo Ave. to all CR visitors.

First time here. Just west of the airport in Alajuela. Many, many bird species and many animals. The canopy (zipline) is also a treat. Friendly personnel.

If you want to just take a leisurely walk and take pictures with animals, this is your place. The animals are well taken care of and have lots of room to run. The monkeys are so curious and like to watch the tourists.

Zoos can be interesting and yet quite sad. This place is a joy because the animals are often rescue survivors and the setting is very attractively laid out. They seemed to apologize for the cost, but $15 or $20 per person is not bad for...More

This is an ideal family excursion for all ages. Zooave is a special kind of "zoo" in that the animals have been rescued from injuries and illness and are helped and protected until that they can be released back to the wild. They are living...More

We left our luggage in the car with our driver. I bet it would be safe to leave your luggage in the office. If you are uncomfortable, you may want to purchase some luggage locks.
