This is an amazing place to visit. We got there after lunch when there were no other patrons. We had an wonderfully informative tour provided by Susan, who seemed to know just about everything there is to know about Helen Keller and her life. The house is almost 200 years old and most of its furnishings are authentic. One room... More

A little off the beaten path but worth the trip (the Alabama Music Hall of Fame is nearby). Brings the book, movies and Helen Kellers life into perspective. Many of the items and furniture is original. Receptionist told a few interesting stories and gave us some history before we began our self-guided tour

We came to Tuscumbia for other sites and ran upon Helen Kellers home by accident. Very glad we did it was extremely informative and having seen the movie "The miracle worker" it really came to life.

My husband and I moved to the area 6 years ago and I had never visited Helen Keller Home until this past spring. It was quite a pleasant surprise. So many intresting items in the house, including Helen's actual clothes. The water pump outside was accessible to guests. A lot of interesting history there. Wish I had gone sooner.

I especially enjoyed the numerous stories the docent told as she showed the home of Helen Keller's childhood. Pictures and memorabilia on display were very interesting too.

It almost didn't seem real to visit Ivy Green. The well pump where Helen learned the word "water" is there and available for viewing. The house has almost all original furniture and artifacts. The guides are very knowledgeable and give a wonderful tour. This was worth the drive off of the Natchez Trace to visit.

Beautiful grounds and a lot of history in one place. Laura was a perfect guide to help and spent time with us to answer all the questions our 13 yr old might have.:)

Actually visited in March of 2011 while driving cross country and decided this would be a great place to visit despite taking time from getting to my destination. It was one thing to study about Helen Keller in grade school, quite another to actually see where she grew up. You don't have to know that much about her to get... More

This is quite the tribute to Helen Keller. There is a short, informative tour of the main house/museum, then you are free to tour on own. You can take photos & ask questions. All of this for $5!! Well worth it!
